Area this position will support - This position will support a variety of medical, cardiac, neuro, and stepdown patients. We currently have 10 units in VUH that are live with virtual nurse support and continue to expand to additional units each month. The vRN will be assigned to work in a pod each day with other vRNs.
Minimum requirements for the position – Prefer at least 3 yrs nursing experience. ICU experience preferred. Must have excellent communication skills.
Additional or Preferred qualifications for this position – Any type of nursing certification, and good with multiple technology platforms.

What are the primary responsibilities for this position – This position virtually supports inpatient units from our Crystal Terrace location. Virtual support is provided through a software program that allows the vRN to call into the patient’s room through the television. The main tasks vRNs complete are admission, discharges, safety rounds, dual medication verification/sign off, and mentoring. Our focus is on improving patient safety through quality discharges and rounding, and to provide support to nurses at the bedside.

- Collaborates in establishing the plan of care, coordinates and implements care delivery while anticipating patient care needs across the continuum.
- Analyzes comprehensive information pertinent to the patient's care and management to determine nursing diagnosis.
- Continually utilizes the nursing process to evaluate patient's progress towards goals and applies appropriate interventions to ensure effective outcomes.
- Employs strategies to promote health and a safe and healthy environment.
