Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding School Nurse Jobs at WellSpan Health Jobs
Verify Your State Nursing License First
Pennsylvania requires an active RN license before WellSpan can submit any visa petition. Apply through the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing early, since endorsement from a foreign-trained nurse can take several months and blocks your start date if delayed.
Target School-Based Postings Directly
WellSpan fills School Nurse roles across its York and Adams County school health programs. Filter your search by department or setting on their careers portal to find school-based openings, which have distinct caseload structures and credentialing requirements compared to inpatient nursing roles.
Align Your Resume to School Health Competencies
WellSpan School Nurse postings typically emphasize pediatric assessment, chronic disease management, and IEP coordination. Tailor your application materials to reflect those competencies specifically, since a hospital-focused resume may not signal fit for a school-based role without clear translation.
Understand H-1B Cap Timing If You're on OPT
If you're on F-1 OPT, WellSpan would need to file your H-1B petition in April for an October 1 start. Confirm with HR whether they file under the regular cap or whether their nonprofit or government-affiliated facilities qualify for cap-exempt status under USCIS rules.
Browse WellSpan Openings Through Migrate Mate
To see current School Nurse openings at WellSpan Health filtered by visa sponsorship eligibility, use Migrate Mate. It surfaces roles from employers with active sponsorship histories, so you spend less time screening postings that don't lead anywhere for international candidates.

Find School Nurse at WellSpan Health JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does WellSpan Health sponsor H-1B visas for School Nurses?
Yes, WellSpan Health has sponsored H-1B visas for nursing roles including School Nurses. H-1B sponsorship requires the position to qualify as a specialty occupation, which RN-level School Nurse roles generally meet. You'll need an active Pennsylvania nursing license and an employer willing to file before the April USCIS registration window opens each year.
How do I apply for School Nurse jobs at WellSpan Health?
Applications go through WellSpan's careers portal at wellspan.org. Search for School Nurse or School Health Nurse positions and filter by location across their York and Adams County service areas. Tailor your resume to reflect school health competencies like pediatric triage, chronic illness management, and IEP participation. You can also find these roles through Migrate Mate, which filters for visa-sponsoring employers.
Which visa types does WellSpan Health commonly use for School Nurse roles?
WellSpan sponsors H-1B visas for specialty occupation nursing roles and supports EB-2 and EB-3 green card pathways through PERM labor certification for longer-term hires. TN visas are available for Canadian and Mexican nurses who meet the treaty criteria. F-1 OPT and CPT holders and J-1 visa holders have also been sponsored, depending on role fit and program authorization.
What qualifications does WellSpan Health expect for School Nurse positions?
WellSpan typically requires an active Pennsylvania RN license and a bachelor's degree in nursing. School Nurse roles often prefer or require a school nurse certification from the Pennsylvania Department of Education, particularly for positions embedded within public school districts. Experience in pediatric care, community health, or school-based settings strengthens your application and signals readiness for the independent nature of school nursing.
How do I think about visa sponsorship timelines when targeting WellSpan Health?
Timeline depends on visa type. H-1B petitions filed through WellSpan must align with the April USCIS registration window, meaning you'd start October 1 at the earliest. EB-3 PERM sponsorship adds a year or more before a petition is filed. If you're on OPT with a STEM extension, you may have enough runway to bridge into H-1B status without a gap, which is worth confirming with WellSpan's HR team early in the offer process.
