ABOUT THE ROLE
As a Sr. Software Controls Engineer you will develop the control system design for each project. You will also perform project specific design analyses with the simulation model and document the SWIL Test Guideline document. You will report to the GOS Manager; Control & Information System Engineering and be located at our Warrendale, PA facility. This will be a remote role.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop the project specific simulation model (i.e., ACSL/Matlab).
- Perform project specific design analyses with the simulation model.
- Document the SWIL Test Guideline document.
- Perform SWIL testing activities with the customer using the simulation model.
- Understand and lead interfaces with Safety Analysis, Licensing, Setpoint Uncertainties, Fluid Systems, Nuclear Operations, Plant Operations, Plant Systems, Plant Licensing, Plant Reactor Engineering.
- Communicate directly with our customers during project execution as the functional design lead.
- Support the project through Simulator FAT, Hardware FAT, and System Installation.
- Support innovation projects to help reduce barriers for team to perform, and/or reduce costs.
- Train the team members and next NSSS control system software designers.
- Program automation software (Ovation), manage databases, interfaces, PID loops, and graphics interfaces for operators.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or similar field.
- 5+ years of experience is required.
- 5+ years experience using industrial automation hardware/software platforms (e.g. Ovation, Rockwell, TIA Portal).
- Prior onsite plant experience in plant startup, plant operation, or plant testing is recommended.
- 1+ years of experience with computer simulations based on first principals and using codes such as Matlab, LOFTRAN, RETRAN, Advanced Continuous Simulation Language (ACSL), or other simulation codes.
- Interest/passion in control system design, simulation models, and I&C design.
We are committed to transparency and equity in all of our people practices. The base salary range for this position, which is dependent upon qualifications, is estimated to be $85,200 to $106,500 per year.
