Verify Your Electrical License Transfers
State electrical licenses aren't portable across U.S. jurisdictions. Before applying, identify which states Westinghouse is actively hiring in and confirm your credentials meet that state's journeyman or master electrician requirements. Some states accept reciprocity agreements; others require a full exam.
Align Your Experience With Nuclear Standards
Westinghouse prioritizes electricians with experience on industrial or power generation facilities. Highlight any work on high-voltage systems, switchgear, or regulated environments in your resume. Hiring managers in the energy sector look for safety compliance backgrounds, not just general commercial electrical experience.
Search Westinghouse Openings Through Migrate Mate
Filter for Electrician roles at Westinghouse on Migrate Mate to surface positions where visa sponsorship is confirmed. This saves time you'd otherwise spend cold-applying to postings that don't mention sponsorship at all.
Understand Which Visa Category Fits Your Situation
Electrician roles can qualify for H-1B sponsorship when the position requires specialized technical knowledge and a relevant degree. TN status is available to Canadian and Mexican nationals under specific technician classifications. Confirm your academic background aligns with the visa category before requesting sponsorship.
Time Your Application Around Westinghouse Project Cycles
Westinghouse staffs electricians around nuclear plant outage schedules and major construction projects. Applications submitted during pre-outage planning windows, typically late Q3 through Q1, are more likely to reach hiring managers when headcount decisions are being made.
Prepare for the USCIS Specialty Occupation Review
If your role is filed as an H-1B, USCIS may scrutinize whether an electrician position meets specialty occupation standards. Work with your employer's immigration counsel to document how the role requires a theoretical and practical application of engineering or technical knowledge at the degree level.

Find Electrician at Westinghouse Electric Company JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Westinghouse Electric Company sponsor H-1B visas for Electricians?
Westinghouse Electric Company does sponsor H-1B visas, including for roles in skilled technical and engineering functions within its energy and nuclear operations. Whether a specific Electrician position qualifies depends on how the role is defined, particularly whether it meets USCIS specialty occupation criteria. Roles requiring advanced technical knowledge tied to a relevant degree are the strongest candidates for H-1B sponsorship.
How do I apply for Electrician jobs at Westinghouse Electric Company?
Applications are submitted through Westinghouse's careers portal, where open Electrician positions are listed by location and project type. Tailor your resume to emphasize experience with industrial or power generation electrical systems and any safety-regulated environments. If you need visa sponsorship, indicate that clearly during the application or screening stage so recruiters can flag it early in the process.
Which visa types are commonly used for Electrician roles at Westinghouse Electric Company?
Westinghouse has sponsored H-1B, TN, F-1 OPT, F-1 CPT, and J-1 visa holders for roles across its operations. For Electrician positions specifically, H-1B and TN are the most relevant pathways for long-term work authorization. F-1 OPT and CPT are more common for students in engineering programs who rotate through technical roles during their studies.
What qualifications does Westinghouse Electric Company expect for Electrician roles?
Most Electrician positions at Westinghouse require a journeyman or higher electrical license, with preference for candidates who have worked in industrial, utility, or nuclear environments. Familiarity with NFPA 70E electrical safety standards and experience with high-voltage systems are common requirements. Roles tied to nuclear facilities may also require the ability to obtain site access authorization clearances.
How do I find Westinghouse Electrician jobs that offer visa sponsorship?
Not all Westinghouse job postings explicitly state whether sponsorship is available for a given role, which makes filtering difficult on general job boards. Migrate Mate aggregates Electrician openings at employers with sponsorship track records, so you can browse Westinghouse positions where visa support has been confirmed rather than guessing from the job description alone.
