Align your credentials to nuclear engineering standards
Westinghouse operates under NRC licensing requirements, so U.S.-recognized credentials in electrical or electronic systems matter. If your degree is from a foreign institution, get a credential evaluation from NACES-affiliated evaluators before applying.
Target roles tied to reactor instrumentation and controls
Westinghouse's Electronic Engineer openings frequently involve instrumentation, control systems, and digital upgrades for nuclear facilities. Positioning your resume around these specializations improves your fit for the roles most likely to carry sponsorship consideration.
Browse open Electronic Engineer roles through Migrate Mate
Westinghouse posts Electronic Engineer positions across multiple business units and facilities. Use Migrate Mate to filter for roles at Westinghouse that align with your visa type and specialization, so you're applying where sponsorship is most viable.
Understand how PERM timelines interact with energy project cycles
If your role leads toward a Green Card via PERM labor certification, Westinghouse project schedules and headcount approvals can affect when the DOL process begins. Ask your HR contact early about the company's typical PERM initiation timeline for engineering positions.
Prepare a clear work authorization summary for your offer discussion
Westinghouse hiring managers in energy and nuclear divisions handle technical evaluations, not immigration. Come prepared with a one-page summary of your current status, authorized work period, and what sponsorship steps are needed so HR can move quickly with USCIS filings.

Does Westinghouse Electric Company sponsor H-1B visas for Electronic Engineers?
Yes, Westinghouse Electric Company does sponsor H-1B visas for Electronic Engineers. The company operates in the nuclear energy sector, which requires specialized engineering talent, and has a documented history of sponsoring work visas for qualifying roles. H-1B sponsorship is typically tied to roles that meet the specialty occupation standard, which most Electronic Engineer positions at Westinghouse satisfy given the technical depth required.
How do I apply for Electronic Engineer jobs at Westinghouse Electric Company?
You can apply through Westinghouse's careers portal or browse their open Electronic Engineer positions on Migrate Mate, which filters roles by visa sponsorship eligibility. When applying, tailor your resume to the specific technical domain the role covers, such as reactor instrumentation, digital control systems, or electrical design, since Westinghouse hiring teams evaluate candidates against precise engineering requirements.
Which visa types does Westinghouse Electric Company commonly use for Electronic Engineers?
Westinghouse sponsors H-1B visas as the primary long-term work visa for Electronic Engineers. The company also accepts candidates on F-1 OPT and F-1 CPT for internship and early-career roles, TN visas for Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying engineering classifications, and J-1 visas for exchange-based positions. The right visa type depends on your nationality, degree level, and where you are in your career.
What qualifications does Westinghouse Electric Company expect for Electronic Engineer roles?
Most Electronic Engineer roles at Westinghouse require a bachelor's degree or higher in electrical engineering, electronic engineering, or a closely related field. Roles supporting nuclear plant systems often expect familiarity with instrumentation and control design, IEEE standards, and regulatory compliance frameworks. Clearance eligibility can be a factor for certain programs. Relevant internship or project experience in power generation or industrial control environments strengthens your application.
How do I know if Westinghouse will sponsor my visa before I apply?
Westinghouse typically indicates sponsorship availability in job postings, but not all listings are explicit. Reviewing the DOL's FLAG system for prior Labor Condition Applications from Westinghouse can give you a sense of which roles and locations have historically involved sponsorship. Applying directly and raising the question during the recruiter screen is also a practical approach, since sponsorship decisions are often made case by case based on the role's business need.
