Certify your nuclear credentials before applying
Westinghouse operations roles often require OSHA, NFPA, or nuclear-specific certifications. Having these documented and verified before you apply signals readiness and reduces employer hesitation about sponsoring someone who still needs credential conversion.
Target plant-level postings over corporate roles
Westinghouse's operational hiring concentrates at specific nuclear fuel and reactor sites. Roles tied to a physical facility often move faster through the offer process than corporate generalist postings, which matters when you're working against OPT or grace period deadlines.
Align your degree field to the job description exactly
H-1B specialty occupation approval depends on a direct connection between your degree and the role. For Westinghouse operations positions, nuclear engineering, mechanical engineering, or a closely related field should appear on your credential documents, not just your resume.
Ask the recruiter about Labor Condition Application timing
Before accepting an offer, confirm when Westinghouse's HR team plans to file the LCA with DOL. For H-1B cap cases, this determines whether you're on track for an October 1 start date, which is the only available entry point for cap-subject petitions.
Use Migrate Mate to find open Operations roles at Westinghouse
Search Migrate Mate's job board to filter Westinghouse Electric Company's current Operations openings by visa sponsorship type. This saves time you'd otherwise spend manually screening job postings that don't support international candidates.
Prepare for security clearance inquiries early
Many Westinghouse nuclear operations roles require or eventually lead to access authorization under NRC regulations. Disclose any prior immigration status changes or international ties accurately on clearance paperwork, as inconsistencies can delay or derail the hiring process.

Does Westinghouse Electric Company sponsor H-1B visas for Operations roles?
Yes, Westinghouse Electric Company sponsors H-1B visas for qualifying Operations positions. Roles that meet the H-1B specialty occupation standard, typically those requiring at least a bachelor's degree in a specific technical field like nuclear or mechanical engineering, are the strongest candidates for sponsorship. Confirm sponsorship availability with the recruiter early in the process, as it can vary by site and role level.
How do I apply for Operations jobs at Westinghouse Electric Company?
Apply directly through Westinghouse Electric Company's careers portal, where Operations roles are listed by location and facility type. You can also browse current openings filtered by visa sponsorship eligibility on Migrate Mate. When applying, highlight any nuclear energy experience, relevant certifications, and your current visa status so recruiters can route your application appropriately from the start.
Which visa types are commonly used for Operations roles at Westinghouse Electric Company?
Westinghouse supports several visa categories for Operations hires, including H-1B for specialty occupation roles, F-1 OPT and CPT for recent graduates gaining practical training, TN visas for Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying engineering or technical positions, and J-1 for exchange visitors in approved programs. The right category depends on your nationality, degree, and the specific responsibilities of the role.
What qualifications does Westinghouse look for in Operations candidates who need visa sponsorship?
Westinghouse typically expects a bachelor's degree or higher in nuclear engineering, mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, or a closely related technical field for sponsored Operations roles. Hands-on experience with plant operations, quality management systems, or nuclear fuel processes strengthens your application. Relevant certifications such as OSHA 30 or nuclear-specific credentials are frequently listed in job requirements and can differentiate your candidacy.
How long does the visa sponsorship process take for a Westinghouse Operations offer?
Timeline depends on the visa type. H-1B cap cases require USCIS lottery selection in March with work authorization beginning October 1, so the process from offer to start date can span several months. Cap-exempt and TN cases move faster, sometimes within weeks. Once Westinghouse issues an offer, their HR team initiates the Labor Condition Application with DOL before USCIS filing begins, so factor that step into your timeline planning.
