Build a portfolio around real-time data pipelines
Whoop's platform processes continuous biometric streams, so demonstrating hands-on experience with streaming architectures like Kafka or Spark positions you as a direct fit before you even apply. Document the scale and latency requirements you have worked with.
Target roles that list OPT and CPT explicitly
Whoop has sponsored both F-1 OPT and CPT candidates for Data Engineer positions. If your authorization is OPT, apply before your 90-day unemployment clock starts and confirm the role qualifies under your degree's STEM classification with your Designated School Official.
Confirm the role's LCA wage tier during screening
Before your offer stage, ask whether the position is classified under a Level I or Level II wage on the Labor Condition Application filed with DOL. Data Engineer roles at a health-tech company like Whoop typically land at Level II or III, which affects your salary benchmark and petition framing.
Align your interview narrative to Whoop's data infrastructure
Whoop's engineering teams work closely with science and research functions, meaning interviewers expect you to articulate how your pipelines support downstream experimentation and analysis. Frame past projects around enabling research decisions, not just moving data.
Use Migrate Mate to filter open Data Engineer roles at Whoop by visa type
Whoop posts Data Engineer openings across experience levels, and availability shifts quickly. Use Migrate Mate to filter current listings by your visa category so you are applying to roles the company is actively willing to sponsor.
Request a written sponsorship confirmation before H-1B registration
If you are transitioning from OPT to H-1B, get written confirmation from Whoop's HR team that they will file your I-129 petition with USCIS before the March registration window. Cap-subject H-1B registrations open once a year, and missing the window means waiting another 12 months.

Find Data Engineer at Whoop JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Whoop sponsor H-1B visas for Data Engineers?
Yes, Whoop has a history of sponsoring H-1B visas for Data Engineer roles. If you are already in the U.S. on a valid status, your employer files Form I-129 with USCIS on your behalf after the cap registration period each spring. Whoop's willingness to sponsor across multiple visa types makes it a strong target for international candidates in this function.
Which visa types are commonly used for Data Engineer roles at Whoop?
Whoop sponsors H-1B, F-1 OPT, F-1 CPT, and TN visas for Data Engineer positions. F-1 OPT and CPT are common entry points for recent graduates, particularly those with STEM-classified degrees in computer science or data-related fields. TN status is available to Canadian and Mexican nationals whose roles meet the engineer or systems analyst category under USMCA.
What qualifications and experience does Whoop expect for Data Engineer roles?
Whoop's Data Engineer roles typically require a degree in computer science, data engineering, or a related technical field, alongside hands-on experience building and maintaining large-scale data pipelines. Given Whoop's science and research focus, familiarity with data systems that support experimentation, biometric analysis, or high-frequency sensor data is a practical differentiator when competing for these positions.
How do I apply for Data Engineer jobs at Whoop?
You can find current Data Engineer openings at Whoop through Migrate Mate, which lets you filter by visa sponsorship type so you can confirm the role matches your authorization before applying. When you apply, emphasize pipeline experience at scale and any background working with health, research, or time-series data, since those map directly to Whoop's engineering environment.
How do I plan my timeline if I need Whoop to sponsor my H-1B?
H-1B cap registration opens in March each year, and USCIS selects registrations by lottery before employers can file petitions. If selected, employment on H-1B status begins no earlier than October 1 of that year. Plan to secure your offer and have all documents ready by late February so Whoop's legal team can register your case before the window closes.
