At Adgo Inc., we're looking for a Senior Electrical Controls Design Engineer who can independently develop complete industrial control-panel designs, collaborate with our manufacturing team, and help strengthen our engineering department.

Founded in 1957, Adgo is a family-owned industrial automation and control-panel manufacturing company in Cincinnati, Ohio. Our engineering, programming, manufacturing, and testing teams work together to deliver custom control solutions for water/wastewater, OEM, and industrial customers.

This is a hands-on electrical design position—not primarily a PLC programming or CAD drafting role.

Applicants must have demonstrated experience independently designing complete industrial electrical control panels, including electrical schematics, component selection, panel layouts, and bills of materials. PLC programming experience alone does not meet this requirement.

What You'll Do

• Independently design complete industrial electrical control panels from customer specifications, P&IDs, control narratives, and project requirements.
• Develop electrical schematics, one-line diagrams, panel layouts, terminal plans, wire information, and bills of materials (BOMs).
• Design industrial power distribution, motor starter and VFD circuits, PLC I/O, and control power systems.
• Apply UL 508A, NEC, SCCR, and other applicable electrical safety requirements.
• Select and verify electrical components, ratings, compatibility, and application requirements.
• Identify missing information, resolve technical questions, and ensure drawings are accurate and ready for manufacturing.
• Work directly with engineering, programming, purchasing, manufacturing, and customers to solve technical challenges.
• Support panel fabrication, factory acceptance testing (FAT), troubleshooting, and commissioning as needed.
• Review designs, improve engineering standards, and mentor developing electrical designers.
• Manage multiple projects while maintaining quality, accuracy, and deadlines.

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on industrial electrical/control-panel design experience.
• Proven ability to independently develop complete electrical design packages from concept through manufacturing.
• Strong understanding of industrial electrical fundamentals, motor controls, power distribution, circuit protection, and VFD applications.
• Working knowledge of UL 508A, NEC, and SCCR requirements.
• Experience creating electrical schematics, panel layouts, terminal plans, and accurate BOMs.
• Experience selecting industrial electrical components, including PLCs, VFDs, relays, circuit protection, and instrumentation.
• Proficiency with industrial electrical CAD software and Microsoft Excel.
• Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate effectively with customers and internal teams.

Preferred Qualifications

• AutoCAD Electrical experience.
• Experience in a UL 508A panel shop or industrial systems integrator.
• Experience with water/wastewater, OEM equipment, batching, or industrial manufacturing.
• Familiarity with Allen-Bradley/Rockwell control systems.
• UL 698A or hazardous-location design experience.
• Experience with FAT, startup, commissioning, or troubleshooting.
• Experience mentoring junior designers or developing engineering standards.
• Associate or bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or engineering technology; equivalent directly relevant experience considered.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred, particularly in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline; not required.

What Success Looks Like

In your first year, you'll independently manage industrial control-panel design projects, deliver accurate and manufacturing-ready drawing packages, collaborate effectively with our shop and programming teams, and contribute to the development of Adgo's engineering standards and less-experienced designers.

Location: Cincinnati, Ohio — onsite position with occasional project-related travel.
