Get Access To All JobsHealth Data Analyst CPT: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Health Data Analyst role qualify for CPT?
Yes, as long as your school documents a direct connection between the role and your enrolled program. Health Data Analyst work is routinely authorized for students in health informatics, biostatistics, epidemiology, and public health programs. Your DSO reviews the job description against your curriculum, so bring a detailed offer letter outlining your specific duties before requesting CPT authorization.
Can I do CPT at a hospital or health system instead of a tech company?
Yes. Hospitals, integrated health systems, insurance companies, and government public health agencies all hire Health Data Analysts and routinely accommodate CPT students. Health systems often have established HR processes for temporary and student workers, which can make the onboarding paperwork smoother. Confirm E-Verify enrollment and ask whether the department has hosted F-1 students before.
How do I find Health Data Analyst jobs that accept CPT authorization?
Migrate Mate filters openings by employer sponsorship history and work authorization type, so you can identify Health Data Analyst roles where employers are already familiar with F-1 students. Generic job boards don't surface this information, which means you often can't tell whether an employer will accommodate CPT until late in the interview process.
What happens to my OPT if I work full-time on CPT as a Health Data Analyst?
Full-time CPT lasting 12 months or more eliminates your OPT eligibility entirely. If you're planning to transition from CPT to OPT after graduation, structure your Health Data Analyst engagement as part-time CPT or limit full-time CPT to under 12 cumulative months. Discuss your post-graduation timeline with your DSO before committing to a full-time schedule.
What documentation should I bring to my DSO to get CPT authorized for this role?
Bring a written offer letter specifying your job title, duties, employer name, work location, and start and end dates. Your DSO also needs to verify the curricular link, so include your course syllabus if the CPT is tied to a specific class. The O*NET occupation profile for Health Data Analyst can help your DSO map your duties to your program's learning outcomes quickly.
