Cybersecurity Analyst Jobs in New York: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a cybersecurity analyst in New York?
Cybersecurity analysts in New York are not subject to a state-issued license, so the path runs through education and industry credentials. Most employers expect a bachelor's degree in cybersecurity, information technology, or computer science, plus at least one recognized certification such as CompTIA Security+ or CISSP. New York employers, especially those in financial services, also expect familiarity with the NYDFS Cybersecurity Regulation, which governs how financial institutions protect data and respond to incidents.
How much do cybersecurity analysts make in New York?
Cybersecurity analysts in New York earn a median of about $134,660 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $83,110 for the lowest 10% to over $216,220 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire cybersecurity analysts in New York?
Employers hiring cybersecurity analysts in New York right now include Bloomberg, New York Life, and OpenAI, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. New York's concentration of major financial institutions, large hospital networks, and enterprise technology firms means demand is consistent across industries rather than tied to a single sector.
Which New York cities have the most cybersecurity analyst jobs?
The cities with the most cybersecurity analyst openings in New York are New York, Bronx, and Brooklyn. New York City drives the bulk of listings because of its dense concentration of global banks, insurance companies, and healthcare systems, each of which maintains large in-house security operations, while Albany draws demand from state government agencies and regulated utilities.
Are there remote cybersecurity analyst jobs in New York?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 37% of cybersecurity analyst openings tied to New York are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, reflecting the largely desk-based and analytical nature of the role. Threat monitoring, vulnerability assessments, and compliance work are the functions most commonly offered on a fully remote basis, while roles involving on-site infrastructure management tend to require in-person presence.
How can I get hired as a cybersecurity analyst in New York with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is a SOC analyst or IT security associate role, which large New York employers in financial services and healthcare use to bring in candidates without deep experience. Northwell Health and New York-area financial institutions regularly post junior analyst and rotational security positions for candidates with a relevant degree and a CompTIA Security+ certification. Lateral moves from IT helpdesk, network administration, or systems administration roles are common, and a documented home lab or capture-the-flag portfolio strengthens an application considerably.
Where can I find and apply to cybersecurity analyst jobs in New York?
You can find and apply to cybersecurity analyst jobs in New York on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings from employers hiring in the state right now. Find roles that fit your experience and specialization and apply directly to the ones that match.
