- Participate in disaster recovery testing and contribute to business continuity planning for network services.
Continuous Improvement
- Identify opportunities to automate DDI and load balancing operations using APIs, Python, PowerShell, or Ansible.
- Proactively monitor trends and recommend improvements for performance, scalability, and manageability.
- Evaluate and test emerging technologies and upgrades to enhance reliability and agility.
What You'll Bring:
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent work experience).
- 3–5 years of experience in enterprise network administration or operations.
- Hands-on experience with DNS, DHCP, and IPAM (DDI) solutions such as Infoblox, BlueCat, or Windows Server DDI.
- Proficiency in managing load balancer platforms such as F5 BIG-IP, Citrix ADC (NetScaler), or AWS/GCP load balancing services.
- Solid understanding of TCP/IP networking, routing, subnetting, VLANs, and network security fundamentals.
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills with experience using packet capture and diagnostic tools.
- Familiarity with change management and ITSM processes (e.g., ServiceNow, Remedy).
Preferred
- Experience with automation and scripting using Python, REST APIs, or Ansible for DDI or load balancing tasks.
- Understanding of DNS security (DNSSEC, RPZ, DoT/DoH) and SSL/TLS certificate management.
- Experience with cloud networking (AWS, Azure, GCP) and hybrid environments.
- Vendor certifications such as F5 Certified Administrator (CA), Infoblox Core DDI Professional, CCNA/CCNP, or CompTIA Network+.

Network Engineer Jobs in New York: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a network engineer in New York?
New York does not require a state-issued license to work as a network engineer, so the path runs through education and vendor certifications. Most New York employers expect at least an associate or bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science, or networking. Earning a Cisco CCNA is the most widely recognized entry credential, and many candidates supplement it with CompTIA Network+ to satisfy baseline requirements at large financial and media employers headquartered in the state.
How much do network engineers make in New York?
Network engineers in New York earn a median of about $140,390 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $83,260 for the lowest 10% to over $214,590 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire network engineers in New York?
Employers hiring network engineers in New York right now include Arista Networks, CB20, and Bank of China USA, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. New York's concentration of global financial institutions, major telecommunications carriers, and large healthcare networks means demand for network engineers is distributed across a wide range of industries rather than a single sector.
Which New York cities have the most network engineer jobs?
New York, Albany, and Manhattan have the most network engineer openings in New York. New York City dominates by volume because of its density of financial institutions, media companies, and enterprise headquarters, while Buffalo and Albany generate consistent demand through regional healthcare systems, state government agencies, and university networks that require dedicated infrastructure teams.
Are there remote network engineer jobs in New York?
Yes, but they are less common than in purely desk-based roles because network engineering often requires hands-on access to physical hardware and on-site data centers. About 21% of network engineer openings tied to New York are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, and those positions tend to focus on cloud networking, network architecture planning, and monitoring rather than on-premise installation or cabling work.
How can I get hired as a network engineer in New York with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is moving from a help desk or IT support role into a junior network engineer position, as New York employers including large financial firms and hospital networks regularly promote from within their internal IT teams. Earning a CompTIA Network+ or Cisco CCNA before applying strengthens any application significantly. New York City College of Technology and CUNY institutions offer networking programs with industry connections, and state agency IT divisions in Albany run structured associate-level hiring programs that do not require prior networking titles.
Where can I find and apply to network engineer jobs in New York?
You can find and apply to network engineer jobs in New York on Migrate Mate, which lists current New York openings from employers actively hiring now. Search the available roles, find the ones that fit your experience and location, and apply directly to each position through the listing.
