Data Analyst Intern Jobs in Illinois: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a data analyst intern in Illinois?
Data analyst intern roles in Illinois do not require a state-issued license or certification, so the path runs through academic enrollment and applied coursework. Most Illinois employers expect candidates to be actively pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in data science, statistics, economics, computer science, or a related quantitative field at an Illinois university or college. Building a portfolio of SQL queries, Python scripts, or visualization projects strengthens any application before a formal internship search begins.
Which companies hire data analyst interns in Illinois?
Companies currently hiring data analyst interns in Illinois include US Foods, Ulta, and Bosch, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Illinois's mix of insurance carriers, financial services firms, and large manufacturing headquarters means intern demand is distributed across multiple industries rather than concentrated in a single sector.
Which Illinois cities have the most data analyst intern jobs?
Chicago, Rosemont, and Cary account for the largest share of data analyst intern openings in Illinois. Chicago drives the majority of postings thanks to its dense concentration of financial services, insurance, consulting, and technology companies, while Peoria and Champaign-Urbana generate consistent openings through large employers like Caterpillar and the University of Illinois research ecosystem.
Are there remote data analyst intern jobs in Illinois?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 75% of data analyst intern openings tied to Illinois are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting how naturally desk-based and screen-driven this work is. The tasks most commonly done fully remotely include data cleaning, dashboard building, and exploratory analysis, while on-site components tend to involve team presentations or stakeholder meetings.
How can I get hired as a data analyst intern in Illinois with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying directly to structured intern programs at large Illinois employers such as Allstate, Northern Trust, or Discover Financial, which run formal cohort programs designed for students with limited professional history. Illinois universities with strong analytics programs, including the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and DePaul University, maintain recruiting relationships with Chicago-area firms that actively recruit first-time interns. A GitHub portfolio with even two or three completed SQL or Python projects gives candidates a concrete edge over those with coursework alone.
Where can I find and apply to data analyst intern jobs in Illinois?
You can find and apply to data analyst intern jobs in Illinois on Migrate Mate, which lists current Illinois openings updated in real time. Search the available roles, find the ones that match your skills and availability, and apply directly to the ones that fit.
