Data Analytics Manager Jobs in Illinois: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a data analytics manager in Illinois?
Data analytics manager is not a state-licensed role in Illinois, so there is no board exam or registration required. Most Illinois employers expect a bachelor's degree in a quantitative field and several years of progressive analytics experience before moving into management. Certifications from Google, Microsoft, or the Data Management Association are common differentiators. Building a portfolio of measurable business outcomes and gaining experience with Chicago-area industries like finance, healthcare, or logistics strengthens a candidacy considerably.
How much do data analytics managers make in Illinois?
Data analytics managers in Illinois earn a median of about $106,560 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $68,810 for the lowest 10% to over $168,880 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire data analytics managers in Illinois?
Employers hiring data analytics managers in Illinois right now include TransUnion, ADM, and Capital One, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Illinois's concentration of Fortune 500 headquarters in the Chicago metro means large, stable analytics teams are common across industries like insurance, retail, and transportation.
Which Illinois cities have the most data analytics manager jobs?
Chicago, Rosemont, and Naperville are the Illinois cities with the most data analytics manager openings. Chicago dominates because of its dense cluster of corporate headquarters and financial institutions, while suburban hubs like Schaumburg and Downers Grove contribute significantly through major employers in insurance and pharmaceuticals that maintain large analytics divisions outside the city core.
Are there remote data analytics manager jobs in Illinois?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 73% of data analytics manager openings tied to Illinois are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting the desk-based, output-driven nature of the work. Strategic planning, reporting, and stakeholder communication are the functions most commonly performed remotely, while roles requiring close collaboration with on-site operations or regulated data environments tend to stay hybrid.
How can I get hired as a data analytics manager in Illinois with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is moving into a data analyst or business intelligence analyst role first and building toward management. Large Illinois employers such as healthcare systems, major insurance carriers, and retail chains regularly hire junior analysts and offer internal advancement. Completing a recognized certification, contributing to a public data project, or targeting rotational analyst programs at Chicago-area firms are practical moves. Transitioning from adjacent roles like financial analyst or marketing analyst is also a common path into analytics management in Illinois.
