There is no state-issued license required to work as a data analytics manager in New York. The typical path begins with a bachelor's degree in a quantitative field, followed by several years of individual-contributor analytics work at a New York employer in finance, healthcare, or media. Advancement into management often comes through internal promotion or lateral moves from senior analyst or business intelligence roles. A master's degree in data science or an MBA strengthens candidates competing for director-track positions at larger firms.
How much do data analytics managers make in New York?
Data analytics managers in New York earn a median of about $130,460 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $73,330 for the lowest 10% to over $214,080 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire data analytics managers in New York?
Employers hiring data analytics managers in New York right now include Bloomberg, Amazon, and DoorDash, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. New York's concentration of financial institutions, large media companies, and major health systems means demand is spread across several distinct industries rather than dominated by a single sector.
Which New York cities have the most data analytics manager jobs?
New York, New York City, and Brooklyn have the most data analytics manager openings in New York. New York City accounts for the vast majority of postings given its density of financial services headquarters, advertising agencies, and technology firms, while Buffalo and Albany see consistent demand driven by regional healthcare systems and state government agencies that maintain dedicated analytics functions.
Are there remote data analytics manager jobs in New York?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 45% of data analytics manager openings tied to New York are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, reflecting the desk-based and collaborative nature of the role. The work most likely to remain fully remote involves strategic reporting, tool governance, and team management, while roles requiring close partnership with trading floors or clinical operations tend to require on-site presence.
How can I get hired as a data analytics manager in New York with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is to build two to three years as a data analyst or business intelligence analyst at a New York employer before pursuing a management title. Large New York financial firms and health systems such as those in the NYC Health and Hospitals network regularly post associate analyst and rotational analytics program roles designed for recent graduates. Building a portfolio of end-to-end projects and earning a certification in a major BI platform or cloud data tool gives candidates a concrete edge when competing for their first management opportunity.
