Entry Level Data Analytics Engineer Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get an entry level data analytics engineer job?
Build a portfolio of projects that demonstrate your ability to clean, model, and visualize data using tools like SQL, Python, and dbt. Internship experience helps, but self-directed projects on public datasets can be equally convincing to hiring managers. Tailor your resume to show you understand the data pipeline end to end, even at a junior level, and highlight any exposure to analytics engineering concepts like dimensional modeling or ELT workflows.
Which companies hire entry level data analytics engineers?
Companies hiring entry level data analytics engineers right now include Walmart, Northrop Grumman, and Amazon, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Both established enterprises and growth-stage startups hire at this level, often looking for candidates who can contribute to data infrastructure and reporting from day one.
Are there remote entry level data analytics engineer jobs?
Yes, though availability varies by employer and team setup. About 18% of entry level data analytics engineer openings are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, making it a realistic option for new grads who are not tied to a specific city. Hybrid arrangements are particularly common at larger companies with distributed data teams.
Are these new grad data analytics engineer jobs?
Yes, these listings include new grad, recent graduate, and junior data analytics engineer roles. A new grad-friendly posting typically welcomes candidates with zero to two years of experience, accepts internships or academic projects in place of full-time work history, and does not require prior professional analytics engineering experience. Look for language like "entry level," "recent graduates welcome," or "0 to 2 years" in the job description.
Which industries hire the most entry level data analytics engineers?
Entry Level data analytics engineer roles concentrate in Technology & Software, Retail, and Consulting & Professional Services, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. These sectors tend to generate large volumes of transactional and behavioral data, creating steady demand for junior engineers who can build and maintain the pipelines and models that turn raw data into business insights.
