Data Analytics Manager Jobs in Durham: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a data analytics manager job in Durham?
Focus your search on Durham's dominant hiring sectors: healthcare systems, pharmaceutical and life sciences companies anchored near Research Triangle Park, university-affiliated research operations, and the growing tech employer base in Downtown Durham and the American Tobacco Campus area. Candidates who combine strong data governance experience with domain knowledge in health data or clinical research stand out. Networking through local analytics meetups and RTP-area professional groups also opens doors that applications alone rarely do.
Which companies hire data analytics managers in Durham?
Companies currently hiring data analytics managers in Durham include Fidelity Investments, BD, and Tetra Tech, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Durham's employer mix skews heavily toward healthcare systems, academic medical centers, life sciences firms, and mid-size tech companies, many of which maintain analytics teams supporting research, operations, and product development.
Are there remote data analytics manager jobs in Durham?
Yes, though remote availability is moderate since many Durham-based roles involve cross-functional stakeholder work and on-site collaboration with research or clinical teams. About 25% of data analytics manager openings tied to Durham are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, with fully remote positions most common in tech-focused companies rather than healthcare or university employers. Strategic planning and reporting responsibilities tend to be the most remote-friendly parts of the role.
How can I get a data analytics manager job in Durham with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Durham is moving up from a senior analyst or lead analyst role, particularly within healthcare or life sciences organizations that promote internally. Durham employers like hospital systems and RTP-based pharmaceutical companies regularly hire junior analytics professionals who grow into manager tracks. Building SQL, Python, and data visualization skills while taking on team-lead or mentorship responsibilities in a current analyst role gives candidates a clear edge when manager openings appear locally.
