Data Consultant Jobs in Chicago: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a data consultant job in Chicago?
Target Chicago's heaviest hiring sectors first: financial services firms in the Loop, healthcare systems on the Near North Side, and management consulting shops throughout River North and Fulton Market. Candidates who combine SQL and visualization skills with domain knowledge in finance or healthcare stand out locally. Networking through Chicago-based tech and analytics meetups also puts you in front of hiring managers before roles are posted publicly.
Which companies hire data consultants in Chicago?
Employers hiring data consultants in Chicago right now include CIBC, Insygnum, and Amazon Web Services, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Chicago's market includes a mix of global consulting firms, regional insurers and banks, and fast-growing healthtech companies, all of which maintain consistent demand for data consulting talent.
Are there remote data consultant jobs in Chicago?
Yes, though it depends on the role: analytical and strategy-focused consulting work tends to be remote-friendly, while roles involving on-site client workshops or data infrastructure buildouts usually require in-person presence. About 100% of data consultant openings tied to Chicago are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, reflecting broader flexibility across the consulting sector. Project-based engagements with Chicago-area financial and healthcare clients most commonly offer hybrid arrangements.
How can I get a data consultant job in Chicago with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Chicago is through an analyst or junior consultant role at one of the city's mid-size management consulting or analytics boutiques, which hire entry-level candidates and develop them on client projects. Chicago's large healthcare systems and regional banks also bring on data analysts who move into consulting tracks internally. Building a project portfolio using publicly available Chicago city data and contributing to local analytics communities strengthens your candidacy significantly.
Which industries hire the most data consultants in Chicago?
Most data consultant openings in Chicago sit in Consulting & Professional Services, Distribution & Wholesale, and Investment & Asset Management, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Chicago's role as a hub for commodities trading, insurance underwriting, and integrated health systems creates sustained demand for consultants who can translate complex data into business decisions across all three sectors.
