Recruiting Manager Jobs in Illinois: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a recruiting manager in Illinois?
Most recruiting managers in Illinois follow a path that starts with a bachelor's degree in human resources or business, then several years as a recruiter or talent acquisition specialist before moving into a management role. Illinois does not require a state-issued license to work as a recruiting manager, but earning a credential such as SHRM-CP or PHR through the Society for Human Resource Management or HRCI significantly strengthens candidacy with Chicago-area corporate employers.
How much do recruiting managers make in Illinois?
Recruiting managers in Illinois earn a median of about $151,370 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $90,820 for the lowest 10% to over $267,520 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire recruiting managers in Illinois?
Employers hiring recruiting managers in Illinois right now include Elite Dental Partners, Ulta, and Abbott, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Illinois's concentration of Fortune 500 headquarters and large healthcare networks means demand comes from a wide mix of corporate, logistics, and clinical hiring teams.
Which Illinois cities have the most recruiting manager jobs?
Chicago, Schaumburg, and Lombard account for the highest concentration of recruiting manager openings in Illinois. Chicago leads due to its density of corporate headquarters and staffing firms, while Schaumburg and Naperville draw demand from large suburban campuses operated by employers in technology, insurance, and consumer goods sectors.
Are there remote recruiting manager jobs in Illinois?
Yes, and more than most management roles, since recruiting work is desk-based and relationship-driven rather than tied to a physical worksite. About 63% of recruiting manager openings tied to Illinois are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, reflecting how broadly companies have accepted distributed HR teams. Roles focused on corporate or technical recruiting tend to offer the most remote flexibility, while high-volume or on-site hiring roles typically require local presence.
How can I get hired as a recruiting manager in Illinois with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is moving into a recruiting coordinator or talent acquisition specialist role first, then building toward management. Large Illinois employers such as Northwestern Medicine, Advocate Health, and major Chicago-area staffing firms regularly post coordinator and associate recruiter openings that serve as a direct pipeline. Earning a SHRM-CP credential while in an entry-level role signals readiness for management and is widely recognized across Illinois corporate hiring teams.
Where can I find and apply to recruiting manager jobs in Illinois?
You can find and apply to recruiting manager jobs in Illinois on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings from employers hiring across the state. Search the listings, find roles that match your background and target location, and apply directly to the ones that fit.
