Technical Solutions Consultant Jobs in Illinois: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a technical solutions consultant in Illinois?
The most common path starts with a bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or engineering, followed by experience in a technical support, software implementation, or pre-sales role. Illinois does not require a state-issued license for this position. Employers in Chicago and the surrounding suburbs typically prioritize platform certifications, such as those offered by Salesforce, Microsoft, or AWS, alongside demonstrated client-facing experience in enterprise technology environments.
Which companies hire technical solutions consultants in Illinois?
Employers hiring technical solutions consultants in Illinois right now include EY, Braze, and Sprinklr, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of October 2026. Illinois's concentration of financial services firms, healthcare organizations, and enterprise technology headquarters in the Chicago metro creates consistent, year-round demand for this role.
Which Illinois cities have the most technical solutions consultant jobs?
Chicago, Illinois, and Bensenville have the most technical solutions consultant openings in Illinois. Chicago leads because of its dense concentration of enterprise technology, financial services, and consulting firm headquarters, while Schaumburg and Naperville attract significant hiring from major corporate campuses and regional offices established along the I-90 and I-88 corridors.
Are there remote technical solutions consultant jobs in Illinois?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 67% of technical solutions consultant openings tied to Illinois are remote or hybrid as of October 2026, reflecting the role's heavy reliance on video demonstrations, digital collaboration tools, and cloud-based platforms. The portions of the role most commonly performed remotely include product discovery calls, solution design sessions, and written proposal work.
