Technical Solutions Consultant Jobs in California: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a technical solutions consultant in California?
Most technical solutions consultant roles in California require a bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, information systems, or a closely related field. There is no state-issued license specific to this role in California. Employers typically want candidates who have worked in technical support, solutions engineering, or software implementation. Earning vendor certifications from AWS, Salesforce, or Google Cloud strengthens applications considerably and is a common differentiator in California's competitive technology market.
Which companies hire technical solutions consultants in California?
Employers hiring technical solutions consultants in California right now include Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), World Wide Technology, and EY, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. California's concentration of enterprise software, cloud, and cybersecurity headquarters means large technology companies account for a significant share of open roles, alongside consulting firms and hardware companies with regional offices across the Bay Area and Los Angeles.
Which California cities have the most technical solutions consultant jobs?
The cities with the most technical solutions consultant openings in California are San Francisco, San Jose, and Santa Clara. The Bay Area leads because it is home to the headquarters and major campuses of the enterprise software and cloud companies that rely most heavily on this role, while Los Angeles draws openings from media technology, defense contractors, and regional enterprise accounts, and San Diego's cybersecurity and biotech sectors contribute consistent demand.
Are there remote technical solutions consultant jobs in California?
Yes, and more than most fields. Technical solutions consulting is largely a desk-based, client-communication, and demo-driven role that translates well to remote and hybrid arrangements. About 28% of technical solutions consultant openings tied to California are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, reflecting how normalized distributed work has become in California's technology sector. Pre-sales, implementation support, and post-sale technical account work are the functions most commonly listed as remote.
How can I get hired as a technical solutions consultant in California with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is moving from a technical support or customer success associate role into solutions consulting, since California's large SaaS companies regularly promote internally. Companies like Salesforce, ServiceNow, and Workday run associate solutions engineer and technical academy programs designed for early-career candidates at their California offices. Building proficiency with one major platform, earning a vendor certification, and assembling a portfolio of demo recordings or implementation case studies gives candidates without direct consulting experience a concrete edge in California applications.
Where can I find and apply to technical solutions consultant jobs in California?
