Vice President Sales Jobs in California: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a vice president sales in California?
Most vice president sales roles in California require a bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or a related discipline, and many larger California employers prefer an MBA for senior leadership hires. There is no state-issued license or board exam required for this role. The typical path runs through individual contributor sales roles, into sales management, then director-level positions before reaching VP. California's technology and enterprise software sectors are the most active entry points for candidates building toward this level.
How much do vice president saleses make in California?
Vice president saleses in California earn a median of about $134,910 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $64,430 for the lowest 10% to over $300,580 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire vice president saless in California?
Employers hiring vice president saless in California right now include Salesforce, Harness, and Western Alliance Bank, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. California's concentration of technology headquarters, health systems, and enterprise software companies makes it one of the most consistent states for senior sales leadership openings year-round.
Which California cities have the most vice president sales jobs?
San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Beverly Hills have the most vice president sales openings in California. San Francisco leads because of the density of enterprise software and SaaS headquarters in the Bay Area, while Los Angeles draws heavily from media, health-tech, and consumer brands, and San Diego's strength in biotech and defense technology generates consistent demand for senior sales leaders in those verticals.
Are there remote vice president sales jobs in California?
Yes, and more than most senior roles. Vice president sales positions have long included significant travel and remote work because the role centers on executive relationship-building and pipeline strategy rather than on-site operations. About 35% of vice president sales openings tied to California are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, reflecting how broadly California employers have accepted flexible arrangements at the VP level. Strategic planning, forecasting, and team leadership are the functions most commonly performed remotely.
How can I get hired as a vice president sales in California with little or no experience?
The most realistic path is moving into a senior account executive or sales manager role first, then building toward VP over time. California's large technology employers, including enterprise software companies headquartered in the Bay Area and Los Angeles, frequently hire sales managers and regional directors who develop into VP candidates internally. Earning a Salesforce certification or completing a revenue operations program signals readiness to California hiring teams. Lateral moves from account management, customer success leadership, or business development director roles are the most common doors into VP-level consideration.
Where can I find and apply to vice president sales jobs in California?
You can find and apply to vice president sales jobs in California on Migrate Mate, which lists current California openings updated regularly. Search the available roles, find the ones that fit your background and target market, and apply directly to each position.
