Real Estate Jobs in California: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a real estate in California?
To work as a licensed real estate salesperson in California, you must complete the required pre-licensing coursework approved by the California Department of Real Estate, pass the California Real Estate Salesperson Exam, and submit a license application. After gaining experience, many professionals pursue a California Broker License, which requires additional coursework and a separate state exam administered by the California Department of Real Estate.
Which companies hire real estates in California?
Employers hiring real estates in California right now include First American, Anywhere Real Estate, and Keller Williams Realty, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. California's scale and property volume mean large commercial firms, regional residential brokerages, and institutional property managers all maintain consistent hiring pipelines throughout the year.
Which California cities have the most real estate jobs?
Los Angeles, San Francisco, and San Diego consistently post the most real estate openings in California. Los Angeles and San Francisco anchor the list because of their sheer transaction volume and the concentration of major brokerages and commercial property firms headquartered there, while San Diego's strong residential market and growing life sciences sector drive steady demand for both residential agents and commercial specialists.
Are there remote real estate jobs in California?
Yes, but they're rare. Real estate work is largely hands-on, requiring property visits, in-person client meetings, and local market knowledge, so most roles are on-site or field-based. About 20% of real estate openings tied to California are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, and those positions tend to be in roles like real estate analyst, transaction coordinator, or marketing manager rather than active agent or broker positions.
How can I get hired as a real estate in California with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is obtaining your California real estate salesperson license and joining a large residential brokerage as an associate agent, where mentorship and floor time replace prior transaction history. Major California brokerages like Coldwell Banker and Keller Williams run structured onboarding programs for new licensees. Candidates who come from adjacent roles such as property management assistant, escrow officer, or mortgage processor bring transferable skills that California hiring managers recognize as a genuine substitute for sales experience.
Where can I find and apply to real estate jobs in California?
You can find and apply to real estate jobs in California on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings across the state. Find roles that fit your experience and specialty, then apply directly to each listing without any additional steps in between.
