Data Science Analyst Jobs in Chicago: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a data science analyst job in Chicago?
Focus your search on Chicago's strongest hiring sectors: financial services firms in the Loop, health systems on the Near North Side, and tech and logistics companies anchored in Fulton Market. Candidates who stand out locally combine Python or R proficiency with experience in business-facing storytelling, since Chicago employers across industries prioritize analysts who can translate models into decisions for non-technical stakeholders. Familiarity with supply chain or trading data is a plus in this market.
Which companies hire data science analysts in Chicago?
Companies currently hiring data science analysts in Chicago include ZS, University of Chicago, and Meta, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Chicago's hiring is spread across major banks and insurance carriers downtown, large health systems on the North Side, and a dense cluster of mid-size tech and logistics firms in Fulton Market and the West Loop.
Are there remote data science analyst jobs in Chicago?
Yes, data science analyst roles are among the more remote-friendly positions in tech since the core work, modeling, analysis, and reporting, is desk-based and output-driven. About 73% of data science analyst openings tied to Chicago are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, with fully remote roles most common at product-focused tech companies and hybrid arrangements more typical at Chicago's large financial institutions and health systems.
How can I get a data science analyst job in Chicago with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Chicago is targeting analyst or junior data analyst roles at mid-size fintech companies, regional insurers, or health-tech firms, many of which are headquartered in Fulton Market or the West Loop and hire entry-level candidates from local programs. Building a portfolio with publicly available Chicago datasets, transit, public health, or municipal data, and completing a relevant certificate from institutions like University of Chicago or Northwestern's continuing education programs helps candidates stand out with employers who prefer locally networked hires.
Which industries hire the most data science analysts in Chicago?
Chicago data science analyst roles concentrate in Consulting & Professional Services, Banking & Financial Services, and Education, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Chicago's position as a hub for derivatives trading, insurance underwriting, and major hospital networks means demand for analysts who can work with complex structured data runs consistently high across all three sectors.
