Why LSP44?
LSP44 is the AI-native agent and API infrastructure company for logistics service providers - the 3PLs, freight forwarders, and brokers who move the world's freight. Built on more than a decade of the largest logistics data graph and carrier network on Earth (280,000+ carriers, 1.5 billion shipments, 706 million carrier events processed daily), LSP44 gives LSPs the AI agents, carrier infrastructure, and developer capabilities to embed intelligence directly into their own products and workflows.
LSP44 isn't a startup chasing a market - it's the original infrastructure project44 built starting in 2014, and nine of the world's ten largest logistics service providers already run on it. LSP44 launched profitable on day one, with its own sales, engineering, and product leadership, and a mandate to move at the speed of the LSPs it serves.
If you want to build technology that ships in days instead of quarters, that LSPs embed directly into how they operate, and that's grounded in more data and context than anyone else in the category - we should talk.
AI at LSP44
Every LSP44 team member is expected to be an intelligent, hands-on user of AI - and for Product, that bar is even higher: the products you're defining are AI agents. We don't expect everyone to be a data scientist, but we do expect everyone to identify where AI adds value, direct it effectively, evaluate its outputs critically, and govern it responsibly, in your own workflow and in the products you build.
The Role
Most engineers build for customers. FDEs build with them. You'll be embedded directly with high-value LSP accounts — owning integration architecture, customizing agent workflows, and serving as the ground truth between how LSPs actually operate and how our product team thinks they do. Your job is to transform logistics from a reactive service into a programmable network — replacing manual workflows with autonomous agent-to-agent coordination. What you learn in the field shapes the roadmap. You ship in weeks, not quarters.
What You'll Work On
- Own end-to-end integration for dedicated LSP accounts — configure bi-directional webhooks and event-driven pipelines so AI agents can read, act, and write data into customer TMS, WMS, and ERP systems instantly
- Unify disparate customer data into a single actionable signal — driving dynamic interoperability across core business systems
- Customize interfaces and agent logic to fit existing LSP workflows across freight procurement, load tendering, and exception handling — reducing time-to-value and making adoption feel natural
- Feed the right context to agents and debug decisions when they go wrong — tracing failures back to the specific data point, prompt, or tool use that caused them
- Build event-driven pipelines (Kafka/PubSub) that carry agent intent at the scale of millions of logistics events per day
- Serve as the ground truth — we can't build a world-class product in a silo. Your field observations directly inform what gets on the roadmap and when
What We're Looking For
Qualifications
- 5+ years in software engineering, solutions engineering, or technical implementation in a customer-facing role
- Mastery of API-first design and bi-directional webhook configuration
- Experience with event-driven architecture and stream processing (Kafka, PubSub, or similar)
- Hands-on integration experience with TMS, WMS, or ERP systems
- Strong debugging skills across distributed, agent-driven workflows
- Deep domain knowledge in logistics — freight procurement, load tendering, carrier management, and exception handling. LSP customers don't trust engineers who don't understand their world. You need to speak their language to earn the right to change how they work.
Nice to Have
- Experience with agentic AI systems — context feeding, prompt engineering, tool invocation, stateful agents
- Prior experience in a forward-deployed or field engineering role
- Containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes)
How You Work
- You take ownership of outcomes, not just deliverables
- You bring back what you see in the field and use it to make the product better
- You move fast, iterate in the open, and don't wait for perfect conditions
- You can translate technical complexity to both engineers and LSP operators without losing either audience

Forward Deployed Engineering Jobs in Illinois: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a forward deployed engineering in Illinois?
Most forward deployed engineering roles in Illinois require a bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, systems engineering, or a related field from an accredited institution. Illinois does not issue a state-specific license for this role, so hiring decisions center on demonstrated technical skills, hands-on deployment experience, and communication ability. Completing internships with Chicago-area tech or defense firms, building a portfolio of integration or infrastructure projects, and earning vendor certifications in cloud platforms or enterprise software strengthens a candidate's profile considerably.
Which companies hire forward deployed engineerings in Illinois?
Employers hiring forward deployed engineerings in Illinois right now include PwC, Palantir Technologies, and Databricks, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Illinois's density of enterprise software companies, defense contractors, and financial technology firms in and around Chicago means hiring for this role remains consistent throughout the year.
Which Illinois cities have the most forward deployed engineering jobs?
Chicago and Schaumburg have the most forward deployed engineering openings in Illinois. Chicago drives the largest share of demand as the headquarters city for major enterprise software, financial services, and defense technology employers, while Naperville and Champaign-Urbana contribute meaningfully through suburban tech campuses and the University of Illinois research and startup ecosystem that feeds applied engineering talent pipelines.
Are there remote forward deployed engineering jobs in Illinois?
Yes, but they're less common than in purely desk-based roles, since forward deployed engineering work is defined by on-site customer engagement and hands-on deployment. About 43% of forward deployed engineering openings tied to Illinois are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, with remote arrangements most often found in post-deployment support, documentation, and technical account management responsibilities rather than active implementation phases.
How can I get hired as a forward deployed engineering in Illinois with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is through an associate or implementation engineer role at a Chicago-area enterprise software or systems integration company, where structured onboarding exposes new hires to real deployment workflows under senior guidance. Companies like Motorola Solutions and Salesforce run new-grad and rotational programs in Illinois that feed directly into forward deployed tracks. Gaining proficiency in a cloud platform and completing a personal or open-source integration project gives candidates a concrete portfolio advantage when applying for these entry-level openings.
Where can I find and apply to forward deployed engineering jobs in Illinois?
You can find and apply to forward deployed engineering jobs in Illinois on Migrate Mate, which lists current Illinois openings from employers actively hiring for this role. Search the available positions, find roles that fit your experience and location, and apply directly to the ones that match.
