Forward Deployed Engineering Jobs in Pennsylvania: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a forward deployed engineering in Pennsylvania?
Most forward deployed engineering roles in Pennsylvania require a bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related technical field, and there is no state-issued license specific to the role. The practical path into the field runs through hands-on technical experience, whether from prior software development, systems administration, or solutions engineering work. Pennsylvania's large defense and enterprise technology employers typically look for candidates who can demonstrate real deployment or integration experience alongside strong communication skills.
Which companies hire forward deployed engineerings in Pennsylvania?
Employers hiring forward deployed engineerings in Pennsylvania right now include Moder, Databricks, and Paychex, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Pennsylvania's concentration of defense contractors around Philadelphia and enterprise software firms in Pittsburgh means demand is spread across both government-facing and commercial sectors.
Which Pennsylvania cities have the most forward deployed engineering jobs?
Philadelphia, Conshohocken, and Pittsburgh account for the largest share of forward deployed engineering openings in Pennsylvania. Philadelphia drives volume through its cluster of defense primes and enterprise technology firms, Pittsburgh draws heavily from its robotics and software ecosystem anchored by Carnegie Mellon University spinouts and major tech offices, and the Lehigh Valley contributes through its growing advanced manufacturing and logistics technology corridor.
Are there remote forward deployed engineering jobs in Pennsylvania?
Yes, but they are less common than in purely desk-based engineering disciplines, since forward deployed work by nature involves on-site customer deployment and integration. About 29% of forward deployed engineering openings tied to Pennsylvania are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, with remote options most likely for roles focused on post-deployment support, documentation, or training rather than initial system configuration.
How can I get hired as a forward deployed engineering in Pennsylvania with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is through a solutions engineer, technical support engineer, or associate software engineer role at a Pennsylvania employer, then transitioning into forward deployed work once you have hands-on deployment experience. Large Pennsylvania defense and enterprise tech employers often run rotational or associate programs that expose early-career engineers to customer environments. Building proficiency in a widely used platform such as Salesforce, Palantir Foundry, or SAP, combined with a portfolio of integration projects, gives candidates without direct experience a meaningful edge.
Where can I find and apply to forward deployed engineering jobs in Pennsylvania?
You can find and apply to forward deployed engineering jobs in Pennsylvania on Migrate Mate, which lists current Pennsylvania openings across Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, the Lehigh Valley, and surrounding areas. Search the listings for roles that match your experience and specialization, then apply directly to the ones that fit.
