Dental Assistant Jobs in Pittsburgh: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a dental assistant job in Pittsburgh?
Focus your search on Pittsburgh's densest hiring pockets: private group practices in Shadyside and Squirrel Hill, hospital-affiliated dental clinics tied to UPMC and Allegheny Health Network, and multi-specialty offices along the South Side and in the North Hills suburbs. Candidates with radiography certification and experience using dental practice management software consistently move faster through hiring. Applying directly to established Pittsburgh group practices rather than single-provider offices tends to yield more openings and faster callbacks.
Which companies hire dental assistants in Pittsburgh?
Pittsburgh dental assistant roles are posted by SPA Creek, TJ Dental, and Polished Dental and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of October 2026. The local market skews toward large group practices, health-system dental departments, and specialty clinics such as orthodontic and oral surgery offices that hire on a rolling basis throughout the year.
Are there remote dental assistant jobs in Pittsburgh?
Remote work is uncommon for dental assistants because the role is almost entirely chair-side and hands-on by nature. About 0% of dental assistant openings tied to Pittsburgh are remote or hybrid as of October 2026, and those positions typically involve administrative or patient-coordination duties rather than clinical work. Pittsburgh dental schools and large health-system offices occasionally post hybrid scheduling coordinator roles that overlap with dental assistant experience.
How can I get a dental assistant job in Pittsburgh with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Pittsburgh is through dental assisting programs at community colleges such as CCAC, which have direct relationships with local practices that hire new graduates. Health-system dental clinics affiliated with UPMC and Allegheny Health Network also bring on entry-level assistants as sterilization technicians or front-office support, then promote internally. Earning your radiography certification before applying, even without a full dental assisting credential, meaningfully increases your competitiveness with Pittsburgh-area hiring managers.
