Dental Assistant Jobs in Richmond: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a dental assistant job in Richmond?
Focus your search on Richmond's group dental practices, corporate dental service organizations, and multi-specialty clinics, which post the most openings locally. Neighborhoods like the Near West End, Short Pump, and the Southside corridors have the highest concentration of practices. Candidates with radiography certification and chairside experience in orthodontics or oral surgery tend to stand out in Richmond's competitive market.
Which companies hire dental assistants in Richmond?
Richmond dental assistant roles are posted by spa creek health, Smile Programs Mobile Dentists, and Ideal Dental Care and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Richmond's hiring mix includes both corporate dental service organizations operating multiple locations and independently owned specialty practices in the metro's western suburbs.
Are there remote dental assistant jobs in Richmond?
Yes, but only in a limited subset of roles, since most dental assistant work requires direct chairside patient care. About 0% of dental assistant openings tied to Richmond are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, covering functions like dental billing, insurance coordination, and patient scheduling. Those administrative-track positions are the most viable remote options in the Richmond market.
How can I get a dental assistant job in Richmond with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Richmond is through dental assistant training programs at Reynolds Community College or similar local institutions, which connect graduates directly with area practices. Corporate dental service organizations operating multiple Richmond locations regularly hire entry-level assistants and train on the job. Volunteering at Richmond-area community health clinics or dental school clinics at VCU also builds the chairside exposure that local employers look for.
