Design Engineer Jobs in Orlando: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a design engineer job in Orlando?
Focus your search on Orlando's aerospace and defense contractors near the Airport South corridor, theme park engineering teams on International Drive, and the growing medtech and simulation companies around Lake Nona and the UCF Research Park. Candidates with CAD proficiency, systems integration experience, or a background in defense or entertainment engineering stand out most in this market. Tailoring your portfolio to one of these sectors gives you a clear edge over generalist applicants.
Which companies hire design engineers in Orlando?
Orlando design engineer roles are posted by Lockheed Martin, Siemens Energy, and L3Harris and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Orlando's hiring base is shaped by a dense mix of defense primes, theme park operators, and simulation technology firms that collectively sustain steady year-round demand.
Are there remote design engineer jobs in Orlando?
Yes, but only for certain specialties. Design engineer work is often hands-on and tied to physical labs, test facilities, or production floors, so fully remote roles are less common than in purely analytical fields. About 26% of design engineer openings tied to Orlando are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, with most flexibility found in CAD, documentation, and systems design tasks rather than prototyping or manufacturing-floor roles.
How can I get a design engineer job in Orlando with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Orlando is through a contract or junior role at one of the simulation or defense firms clustered near the UCF corridor, where co-op pipelines and project-based hiring are common. Target positions like junior product designer, design engineering technician, or associate CAD engineer to get in the door. Internship experience with a theme park engineering team or a UCF research lab carries weight with Orlando employers and can substitute for years of direct work history.
Which industries hire the most design engineers in Orlando?
Orlando design engineer roles concentrate in Energy, Manufacturing, and Media & Entertainment, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. This mix reflects Orlando's unusual position as home to both a major aerospace and defense cluster and one of the world's largest theme park and entertainment engineering ecosystems, both of which require sustained design engineering talent.
