Electronic Engineer Jobs in Florida: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a electronic engineer in Florida?
Electronic engineers in Florida typically begin with a bachelor's degree in electrical or electronic engineering from an accredited program. While a state license is not required to work in most industry roles, engineers who sign off on public-facing designs may pursue a Professional Engineer license through the Florida Board of Professional Engineers, which requires passing the FE and PE exams. Defense and aerospace roles frequently require a security clearance obtained through an employer.
How much do electronic engineers make in Florida?
Electronic engineers in Florida earn a median of about $104,780 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $65,090 for the lowest 10% to over $164,210 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire electronic engineers in Florida?
Employers hiring electronic engineers in Florida right now include HX5, Boeing, and DCS, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Florida's defense and aerospace concentration means many of the largest and most consistent openings come from systems integrators and government contractors with long-term facility footprints in the state.
Which Florida cities have the most electronic engineer jobs?
Eglin AFB, Niceville, and Florida have the most electronic engineer openings in Florida. Orlando and the Melbourne-Brevard County corridor anchor the demand through a dense cluster of defense contractors and space-industry employers, while Tampa draws from both defense supply-chain firms and a growing medical device and semiconductor sector.
Are there remote electronic engineer jobs in Florida?
Yes, but they're relatively limited. Electronic engineering is largely hands-on, involving lab work, hardware testing, and prototype development that requires physical presence. About 20% of electronic engineer openings tied to Florida are remote or hybrid as of August 2026. When remote work is available, it tends to apply to firmware review, simulation modeling, or documentation-heavy phases of a project rather than core design and test roles.
How can I get hired as a electronic engineer in Florida with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is an internship or co-op program during an accredited engineering degree, as Florida defense contractors including L3Harris and Northrop Grumman actively recruit through university partnerships with Florida universities. New graduates can also target entry-level test engineer or engineering technician roles, which are the most common stepping stones. Building a project portfolio with embedded systems or PCB design work and obtaining an FE credential early strengthens any application significantly.
Where can I find and apply to electronic engineer jobs in Florida?
You can find and apply to electronic engineer jobs in Florida on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings across the state. Search for roles that match your experience level and specialty, then apply directly to the positions that fit.
