Product Design Engineer Jobs in Florida: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a product design engineer in Florida?
Most product design engineer roles in Florida require a bachelor's degree in mechanical, industrial, or product design engineering from an ABET-accredited program. Florida does not mandate a state license specifically for product design engineers in commercial industries, though engineers who sign off on public-facing designs may pursue Professional Engineer licensure through the Florida Board of Professional Engineers. Building a CAD portfolio and targeting internships with Florida aerospace or medical device firms strengthens your path considerably.
Which companies hire product design engineers in Florida?
Employers hiring product design engineers in Florida right now include Bote, Flow, and Cyient, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of November 2026. Florida's aerospace corridor around Orlando and the Space Coast, along with the medical device cluster near Tampa and Miami, means large defense contractors and healthcare technology companies represent a consistent share of open roles.
Which Florida cities have the most product design engineer jobs?
Destin, Florida, and Tampa have the most product design engineer openings in Florida. Orlando and the surrounding Space Coast drive demand through aerospace, simulation technology, and defense contractors, while Tampa's concentration of medical device manufacturers and Miami's growing tech and consumer products sector add substantial volume across all experience levels.
Are there remote product design engineer jobs in Florida?
Yes, but they're limited. Product design engineering is fundamentally hands-on work involving physical prototypes, lab testing, and manufacturing floor collaboration, which restricts full-remote arrangements. About 50% of product design engineer openings tied to Florida are remote or hybrid as of November 2026, and those positions tend to cover upstream work like concept modeling, CAD documentation, and design review rather than late-stage prototyping or production support.
How can I get hired as a product design engineer in Florida with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is targeting junior or associate engineer roles at Florida aerospace and medical device companies that run formal new-graduate programs, such as those offered by large defense contractors on the Space Coast or Tampa-area medical technology firms. Completing internships through Florida universities' cooperative education programs, building a portfolio of SolidWorks or CATIA models, and earning a Certified SolidWorks Associate credential gives early-career candidates a measurable edge over applicants without demonstrated CAD output.
Where can I find and apply to product design engineer jobs in Florida?
You can find and apply to product design engineer jobs in Florida on Migrate Mate, which lists current Florida openings updated regularly. Find roles that match your experience level and specialization, then apply directly to each one. No sign-up is required to see the listings.
