About the Role

We are seeking a creative and technically skilled Product Design Engineer to help develop modern, sleek, and innovative consumer electronic products.

This is a hands-on role at the intersection of industrial design, mechanical engineering, and product development. You will help define how our products look, feel, function, and are manufactured—from early concepts and prototypes through tooling and production.

The ideal candidate combines a strong sense of modern product aesthetics with the technical ability to engineer attractive, functional, and manufacturable electronic enclosures.

We are looking for someone who appreciates the details that make a product feel exceptional: proportion, surfaces, materials, textures, seams, controls, lighting, fit and finish, and overall user experience.

What You'll Do

• Design and develop modern consumer electronic products and enclosures from concept through production.
• Create innovative product forms that balance aesthetics, functionality, engineering requirements, cost, and manufacturability.
• Design external housings, bezels, covers, stands, mounts, controls, brackets, and other mechanical components.
• Develop detailed 3D CAD models, assemblies, and production drawings.
• Translate sketches, concepts, and industrial-design direction into production-ready mechanical designs.
• Integrate PCBs, displays, touchscreens, LEDs, buttons, switches, connectors, speakers, batteries, sensors, antennas, and other electronic components into compact and visually refined enclosures.
• Develop clean solutions for seams, ventilation, fasteners, access panels, cable routing, interfaces, and assembly.
• Select materials, textures, coatings, finishes, and manufacturing processes that support the desired product aesthetic.
• Design components for processes such as injection molding, CNC machining, sheet metal fabrication, extrusion, and die casting.
• Create and evaluate prototypes using 3D printing, CNC machining, and other rapid-prototyping methods.
• Refine products through multiple design, engineering, and prototype iterations.
• Conduct Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) reviews.
• Work directly with manufacturers, tooling vendors, suppliers, and engineering partners.
• Evaluate prototype and production samples for fit, finish, color, texture, gaps, alignment, surface quality, and overall appearance.
• Troubleshoot mechanical, manufacturing, assembly, and cosmetic issues.
• Support products throughout the complete development process from concept through tooling, pilot production, and mass production.

What We're Looking For

• Experience designing consumer electronics, technology products, or other design-driven physical products.
• Strong sense of form, proportion, aesthetics, materials, and product detailing.
• Demonstrated ability to create products with a clean, contemporary, premium appearance.
• Strong 3D CAD skills using SolidWorks, Creo, Fusion 360, Rhino, or similar professional design software.
• Experience designing plastic and/or metal product housings and enclosures.
• Understanding of injection molding, machining, sheet metal, tooling, tolerances, assembly methods, and material selection.
• Understanding of internal mechanical architecture and the integration of electronic components.
• Ability to balance visual design goals with engineering and manufacturing constraints.
• Experience developing physical products from initial concept through prototype and production.
• Strong problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.
• Ability to communicate effectively with engineering teams, suppliers, manufacturers, and other project stakeholders.

Education & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Product Design, Industrial Design, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design Engineering, or a related discipline preferred.
• Approximately 3–7 years of relevant professional experience preferred.
• Equivalent professional experience and a strong portfolio will also be considered.

A strong portfolio and demonstrated ability to develop exceptional physical products are highly valued.

The Kind of Designer/Engineer We're Looking For

Great consumer electronics should be technically sophisticated without looking complicated.

We want someone who can take an electronic assembly and turn it into a product that feels intentional, modern, and refined. You should care about both what happens inside the enclosure and what the customer sees and touches on the outside.

You may find yourself refining the radius of an enclosure one day, determining how a PCB and display mount the next, reviewing a 3D-printed prototype, and then working with a manufacturer to improve the finish and alignment of production parts.

This position is ideal for someone who enjoys the complete process of designing, engineering, prototyping, refining, and ultimately seeing a physical product go into production.

Position Details

Employment: Full-Time
Work Environment: Hybrid
Salary Range: $95,000–$110,000 per year

Compensation within the stated range will be based on experience, qualifications, portfolio, and demonstrated product-development capabilities.
