Quality Assurance Specialist Jobs in New York: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a quality assurance specialist in New York?
Most quality assurance specialist roles in New York require a bachelor's degree in a relevant technical field such as biology, chemistry, engineering, or information technology. New York does not issue a state-specific license for the role, but employers in regulated industries, particularly pharmaceuticals and medical devices, expect familiarity with FDA standards and often prefer candidates holding certifications like ASQ's Certified Quality Auditor or Certified Quality Engineer. Building experience through lab, manufacturing, or compliance internships at New York's large life sciences or financial firms strengthens your candidacy considerably.
Which companies hire quality assurance specialists in New York?
Employers hiring quality assurance specialists in New York right now include The Fedcap, Curia, and Figma, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. New York's concentration of pharmaceutical manufacturers, financial institutions, and food producers means hiring activity is spread across both the metro area and upstate manufacturing corridors.
Which New York cities have the most quality assurance specialist jobs?
New York, Manhattan, and Rensselaer have the most quality assurance specialist openings in New York. New York City dominates because of its dense financial services, healthcare, and technology sectors, while Buffalo and Albany see consistent demand from upstate pharmaceutical plants, food manufacturers, and state agency contractors that require dedicated quality and compliance staff.
Are there remote quality assurance specialist jobs in New York?
Yes, and they're more common than in many technical roles. About 29% of quality assurance specialist openings tied to New York are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, reflecting how much of the work involves documentation, auditing, and systems review rather than physical inspection. The most remote-friendly sub-areas are software QA, compliance documentation, and audit coordination, while roles in manufacturing or laboratory settings almost always require on-site presence.
How can I get hired as a quality assurance specialist in New York with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is a QA associate or quality technician role at a New York pharmaceutical manufacturer, food producer, or contract testing lab, where employers regularly hire candidates with a relevant degree and train them on site-specific systems. Companies like Pfizer and Regeneron run structured new-graduate and early-career programs in their New York facilities. Adjacent roles in laboratory operations, regulatory affairs coordination, or production supervision also open the door. Earning an ASQ entry-level certification before applying signals commitment and gives you a measurable edge over candidates with similar backgrounds.
