Construction Coordinator Jobs in New York: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a construction coordinator in New York?
Most construction coordinators in New York enter the field with a bachelor's degree in construction management, civil engineering, or architecture, though candidates with associate degrees and hands-on field experience are also hired. New York does not require a state license specifically for construction coordinators, but project work in New York City involves navigating Department of Buildings filings and permits, so familiarity with those processes is effectively required. Earning an OSHA 30-hour certification and a LEED credential strengthens candidacy significantly.
Which companies hire construction coordinators in New York?
Employers hiring construction coordinators in New York right now include K&A Engineering, PTAG, and K&A Engineering Consulting, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. New York's volume of large commercial, infrastructure, and institutional projects means national general contractors and regional construction managers both maintain active coordinator pipelines throughout the state.
Which New York cities have the most construction coordinator jobs?
New York, Ithaca, and Mechanicville have the most construction coordinator openings in New York. New York City dominates due to its concentration of commercial high-rises, public infrastructure projects, and institutional clients, while Buffalo and Albany generate demand through ongoing infrastructure investment and state-funded development projects that require dedicated on-site coordination staff.
Are there remote construction coordinator jobs in New York?
Yes, but they're rare. Construction coordinator work is fundamentally site-oriented, involving field walks, subcontractor meetings, and permit inspections that require physical presence. About 7% of construction coordinator openings tied to New York are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, and those roles tend to concentrate in preconstruction planning, scheduling, and document control functions that can be handled off-site.
How can I get hired as a construction coordinator in New York with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is a project assistant or field engineer role with a general contractor or construction management firm. Large New York employers like Turner Construction and Skanska USA run associate and intern programs for recent graduates of construction management or engineering programs at schools such as Wentworth Institute of Technology and New York Institute of Technology. Moving laterally from an estimating assistant or document control role is also common, and completing an OSHA 30-hour certification before applying gives entry-level candidates a concrete credential to point to.
Where can I find and apply to construction coordinator jobs in New York?
You can find and apply to construction coordinator jobs in New York on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings across New York City, Buffalo, Albany, and the broader state. Find roles that fit your experience level and location and apply directly to each one.
