How do you become a aerospace in New York?
Most aerospace roles in New York require at least a bachelor's degree in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or a closely related field from an accredited program. New York does not issue a state-specific aerospace license, but engineers who sign off on designs or systems may need a Professional Engineer license through the New York State Education Department. Many employers in defense and aviation also require candidates to be eligible for a federal security clearance before or shortly after hiring.
Which companies hire aerospaces in New York?
Employers hiring aerospaces in New York right now include Atlas Copco, Barclays, and Bloomberg, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. New York's defense corridor on Long Island and in the Capital Region gives it an unusually high concentration of prime contractors and tier-one suppliers compared to most other states.
Which New York cities have the most aerospace jobs?
New York, Bohemia, and Brooklyn have the most aerospace openings in New York. Long Island's Bethpage and Melville area drives much of the volume thanks to major defense contractors headquartered there, while the Albany-Schenectady corridor supports a cluster of advanced manufacturing and systems integration facilities, and New York City itself draws aerospace roles in research, project management, and corporate engineering functions.
