Across Infrastructure, Reality Labs, Robotics, and Research, our teams tackle complex challenges in consumer electronics, data centers, advanced robotics, opto-mechanical systems, and more. We bring together cross-disciplinary minds to invent, prototype, and deliver products and platforms that connect billions of people worldwide. As a Mechanical/Product Design Engineer, you are a technical authority and thought leader responsible for solving the most ambiguous hardware problems. You will lead major, cross-functional initiatives, setting technical direction and driving engineering across the broader organization. This role is for someone who can operate in complex problem spaces, invent novel solutions, and act as a force multiplier by mentoring other engineers and influencing long-term functional strategy.

- Act as a recognized and thought leader, sought out for advice across multiple teams. Create and leverage formal networks with key internal and external contacts. Recruit, onboard, and serve as a mentor to other engineers, elevating the entire team.
- Drive investments in engineering craft, advocate for higher product quality and efficiency, and establish new best practices to resolve business-critical challenges.
- Bring clarity to undefined problems and develop novel approaches for issues with unclear or variable factors. Exercise judgment to drive comprehensive solutions that align with broader organizational goals and future implications.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field and/or equivalent industry experience.
- 8+ years of industry experience in mechanical design, with a track record of delivering breakthrough products and technologies for high-volume commercial products and/or designing complex electromechanical systems in a research/prototype environment.
- Recognized expertise in a relevant technical domain and a history of solving novel, loosely defined technical problems.
- Track record of driving technical direction, mentoring engineers and influencing the strategy of cross-functional teams.
- Demonstrated expertise across the full product development lifecycle, from architecture to high-volume manufacturing.
- Experience creating and driving technical roadmaps and contributing to organizational-level strategy.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- 10+ years of product design and development experience of handheld and/or wearable electronics for high volume manufacturing, including full systems ownership.
- MS or PhD in Mechanical Engineering.
- Experience designing handheld and wearable electronics for high volume manufacturing.
- Experience with NX.
- Experience with products cosmetic surface treatments and interfacing with industrial design teams.
- Professional working proficiency in Mandarin and/or Cantonese skills preferred due to partnerships with external clients.
- Experience designing for human factors.
- Demonstrated experience to integrate AI tools to optimize/redesign workflows and drive measurable impact (e.g., efficiency gains, quality improvements).
- Experience adhering to and implementing responsible, ethical AI practices (e.g., risk assessment, bias mitigation, quality and accuracy reviews).
- Demonstrated ongoing AI skill development (e.g., prompt/context engineering, agent orchestration) and staying current with emerging AI technologies.
