Engineering Manager Jobs in Florida: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a engineering manager in Florida?
Most engineering manager roles in Florida require a bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline, followed by several years of hands-on engineering experience before moving into leadership. For civil, structural, or consulting engineering management roles, holding or pursuing a Professional Engineer license through the Florida Board of Professional Engineers strengthens candidacy significantly. Technology and software-focused engineering managers typically advance through demonstrated technical leadership and formal management experience rather than a state license.
Which companies hire engineering managers in Florida?
Employers hiring engineering managers in Florida right now include Northrop Grumman, AVCON, and DYNAMIC ENGINEERING CONSULTANTS, PC, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Florida's aerospace corridor around Orlando and the Space Coast, along with its active construction and infrastructure sector, means demand comes from both defense contractors and large development firms.
Which Florida cities have the most engineering manager jobs?
Orlando, Tampa, and Miami have the most engineering manager openings in Florida. Orlando and the surrounding Space Coast drive significant demand through aerospace, defense, and simulation technology employers, while Tampa's strong presence in infrastructure, finance technology, and defense contracting and Miami's growing tech and construction sectors account for a large share of listings outside Central Florida.
Are there remote engineering manager jobs in Florida?
Yes, but they are less common than in purely desk-based fields because engineering managers frequently oversee on-site teams, facilities, or production environments. About 39% of engineering manager openings tied to Florida are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, with remote opportunities concentrated in software engineering management and certain program or portfolio management roles that do not require physical site presence.
How can I get hired as a engineering manager in Florida with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is moving into a lead engineer or senior engineer role first, then pursuing formal management responsibility from within. Large Florida employers in aerospace, defense, and construction, such as those operating on the Space Coast or in Tampa's defense sector, regularly promote technical leads into first-line management. Earning a Project Management Professional credential or completing Florida-based leadership development programs offered through large regional employers helps candidates without prior management titles demonstrate readiness for the role.
Where can I find and apply to engineering manager jobs in Florida?
You can find and apply to engineering manager jobs in Florida on Migrate Mate, which lists current Florida openings updated regularly. Search the listings for roles that match your experience level and preferred location, then apply directly to the ones that fit.
