Engineering Manager Jobs in Orlando: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a engineering manager job in Orlando?
Focus on Orlando's highest-volume sectors: defense and aerospace contractors near the UCF Research Park, healthcare technology firms in Lake Nona, and the simulation and entertainment technology companies tied to the theme park industry. Candidates who combine people leadership experience with domain knowledge in one of these sectors move fastest here. Tailoring your resume to the specific engineering discipline of each employer, rather than sending a generic application, gives you the clearest edge in this market.
Which companies hire engineering managers in Orlando?
Companies currently hiring engineering managers in Orlando include AVCON, Lockheed Martin, and Universal Creative, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Orlando's mix of defense primes, theme park operators, health systems, and software firms means engineering manager roles appear across a wider range of industries than in most mid-size cities.
Are there remote engineering manager jobs in Orlando?
Yes, though remote availability depends heavily on the role: software and systems engineering managers often work remotely, while roles tied to manufacturing, simulation hardware, or on-site operations are typically in person. About 26% of engineering manager openings tied to Orlando are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, with most of those coming from the software and IT services sector. Hybrid arrangements are most common at the larger enterprise employers headquartered downtown or in the UCF corridor.
How can I get a engineering manager job in Orlando with little or no experience?
The most realistic path in Orlando is moving into a team lead or technical lead role first, particularly at one of the mid-size defense contractors or health tech firms in Lake Nona and the Research Park, which often promote from within rather than hiring externally for their first management tier. Orlando's simulation and training technology sector also creates entry points through project lead roles on government contracts. Building familiarity with agile delivery or systems engineering workflows, common in both defense and theme park tech, makes the transition easier.
Which industries hire the most engineering managers in Orlando?
The sectors hiring the most engineering managers in Orlando are Manufacturing and Media & Entertainment, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Orlando's concentration of defense and simulation contractors, a rapidly expanding medical city in Lake Nona, and the technology infrastructure supporting major entertainment operators drives consistent demand across these fields year-round.
