This individual will lead the estimating process from initial drawing review through final proposal submission. They have strong knowledge of electrical systems, labor and material pricing, and maintain strong relationships within the electrical and general contractor community. Expected to have an entrepreneurial, startup mindset who enjoys building systems, improving processes, and helping grow a construction business.
Job Responsibilities: Percentage of time: 100%
Estimating & Preconstruction
- Review and interpret electrical drawings, specifications, and project documents for new construction projects.
- Perform complete electrical takeoffs including power distribution, lighting, low voltage, fire alarm, and specialty systems.
- Develop accurate labor and material estimates based on project scope, productivity factors, and market conditions.
- Price electrical scope using supplier quotes, subcontractor bids, and internal cost databases.
- Prepare detailed project budgets, bid summaries, and proposals.
- Identify scope gaps, conflicts, and value engineering opportunities.
Vendor & Contractor Coordination
- Maintain and leverage relationships with electrical suppliers, subcontractors, and general contractors.
- Solicit and evaluate vendor and subcontractor pricing.
- Attend pre-bid meetings and project walkthroughs when required.
- Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and field teams to validate estimate assumptions.
Strategic & Operational Contributions
- Assist leadership with bid strategy and project selection.
- Help develop and improve estimating systems, templates, and cost databases.
- Provide insight into market pricing trends and labor conditions.
- Support project handoff to operations after successful bid awards.
