Electrical Estimator Jobs in Texas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a electrical estimator in Texas?
Most electrical estimators in Texas start by earning a Journeyman Electrician license through the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, which requires completing an apprenticeship and passing a state exam. From there, estimators typically move into takeoff or junior estimating roles after gaining field experience. A degree or certificate in construction management or electrical technology strengthens candidacy, and credentials like the Certified Estimating Professional designation are recognized by Texas employers in commercial and industrial contracting.
Which companies hire electrical estimators in Texas?
Employers hiring electrical estimators in Texas right now include Rosendin Electric, Digital Building Components, and Fluor, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Texas's heavy concentration of energy, petrochemical, and large-scale commercial construction projects keeps demand steady across both regional electrical contractors and national engineering and construction firms with Texas offices.
Which Texas cities have the most electrical estimator jobs?
Houston, Coppell, and Dallas have the most electrical estimator openings in Texas. Houston leads because of its dense petrochemical, industrial, and port infrastructure that requires constant electrical contracting, while Dallas and San Antonio drive volume through large-scale commercial development, data center construction, and corporate campus projects that consistently bring major electrical contractors into those markets.
Are there remote electrical estimator jobs in Texas?
Yes, but they're less common than in purely desk-based roles because estimators frequently need site visits, coordination with field crews, and access to project documents. About 13% of electrical estimator openings tied to Texas are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, with fully remote arrangements most often available for the pre-bid takeoff and quantity surveying portions of the work rather than full project oversight.
How can I get hired as a electrical estimator in Texas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is starting as a junior estimator or estimating assistant at a Texas electrical contractor while holding or actively pursuing a Journeyman Electrician license through the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation. Large Texas-based contractors such as Quanta Services and regional commercial electrical firms regularly bring on field electricians transitioning into estimating roles. Building proficiency in takeoff software like Accubid and assembling a portfolio of completed bid packages, even from apprenticeship or coursework, gives candidates a measurable edge over applicants with no estimating exposure.
Where can I find and apply to electrical estimator jobs in Texas?
You can find and apply to electrical estimator jobs in Texas on Migrate Mate, which lists current Texas openings across commercial, industrial, and infrastructure contractors. Search the listings to find roles that match your experience level and location, then apply directly to the ones that fit.
