Engineering Manager Jobs in Georgia: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a engineering manager in Georgia?
Most engineering managers in Georgia move into the role from a senior individual contributor position after demonstrating technical leadership and people management capability. A bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline is the standard baseline, and employers in aerospace, defense, and infrastructure frequently prefer candidates who hold or are eligible for a Professional Engineer license issued by the Georgia State Board of Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors. For software and product-focused roles, a strong delivery record often carries more weight than licensure.
Which companies hire engineering managers in Georgia?
Employers hiring engineering managers in Georgia right now include Amazon, Speria, and FanDuel, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Georgia's concentration of aerospace, fintech, and logistics companies means engineering manager demand stays active well beyond Atlanta's perimeter, reaching manufacturing corridors and port-adjacent operations in coastal Georgia.
Which Georgia cities have the most engineering manager jobs?
Atlanta, Kennesaw, and Norcross account for the largest share of engineering manager openings in Georgia. Atlanta leads by a wide margin because it hosts the headquarters and major regional offices of Georgia's fintech, enterprise software, and transportation technology sectors, while Marietta and Savannah draw demand from Lockheed Martin's aeronautics operations and the Port of Savannah's rapidly expanding logistics and supply chain infrastructure.
Are there remote engineering manager jobs in Georgia?
Yes, and more than many technical fields, since engineering management for software and product organizations is largely meeting- and process-driven rather than hands-on. About 54% of engineering manager openings tied to Georgia are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, reflecting how broadly Georgia's tech employers have adopted flexible work models post-pandemic. The most remote-compatible specializations are software engineering management and platform or infrastructure leadership, while manufacturing and defense program management typically require on-site presence.
How can I get hired as a engineering manager in Georgia with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is moving laterally from a senior engineer or technical lead role into a team lead position with direct reports, which Georgia employers in fintech and enterprise software regularly use as a structured on-ramp. Companies like NCR Atleos and large Atlanta-area consultancies often post associate manager or lead engineer roles that carry people management responsibility without requiring prior formal management titles. Building a record of mentoring, running sprint planning, and owning delivery outcomes strengthens a candidacy considerably before making a direct application to a full engineering manager posting.
Where can I find and apply to engineering manager jobs in Georgia?
You can find and apply to engineering manager jobs in Georgia on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings from employers actively hiring across the state. Find the roles that match your experience level and specialization, then apply directly to the ones that fit.
