Most Mississippi employers expect a bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or retail management paired with several years in buying, category management, or merchandising coordinator roles. Building expertise in a specific product category, earning a Certified Professional in Supply Management credential, and gaining experience with Gulf South retailers or agricultural-consumer goods companies strengthens a candidacy considerably.
