DESCRIPTION
Are you an innovative engineer that wants to design the next generation of world-class fulfillment centers and logistics systems across the globe? Do you want a high level of ownership in solving complex problems? Does the challenge of designing systems that leverage ground breaking automated material handling equipment, packaging technologies and robotics appeal to you? If so, we have the job for you!
Key job responsibilities
We’re looking to add a handful of high-impact engineers to our team. In this role, you will collaborate with internal and external teams to design high quality, cost effective solutions for our fulfillment and distribution systems.
You will own multiple projects simultaneously, from concept realization through design approval. You will be our suppliers’ primary point of technical contact for your projects. Then, once the design is completed and approved, you will hand-off the project to our Ops Engineering team who will oversee the installation and commissioning of the project. You’ll support that team to ensure that the system you’ve designed is successfully installed, commissioned and launched. Your projects may include green-fields, brown-fields, and retrofits, including highly automated fulfillment centers, cross-dock facilities, reverse logistics, transportation centers, and specialty buildings.
Your projects will be a variety of template-based and designed-from-scratch. You will work with a team of highly skilled and highly engaged engineers in a fast-paced and often ambiguous environment. Our team works on hundreds of projects each year. You will be challenged; you will learn; you will work on high impact, high visibility projects; you will grow.

How do I get a director of product design job in Arlington?
Focus your search on the Rosslyn-Ballston corridor and Crystal City, where defense contractors, federal IT firms, and government-focused tech companies concentrate most of their design leadership hiring. Experience designing enterprise software, data-heavy dashboards, or products for government or regulated clients gives candidates a real edge here. Building a portfolio that includes complex systems design and demonstrating fluency in stakeholder alignment with non-design executives strengthens your candidacy in Arlington's market.
Which companies hire director of product designs in Arlington?
Arlington director of product design roles are posted by Amazon, Logic, and AECOM and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. The local employer mix skews toward defense contractors, federal consulting firms, and technology companies serving government clients, many of which maintain large design teams in the Pentagon City and Rosslyn areas.
Are there remote director of product design jobs in Arlington?
Yes, though director of product design is a senior leadership role that often requires in-person collaboration with cross-functional teams and executive stakeholders, so fully remote positions are less common than hybrid arrangements. About 60% of director of product design openings tied to Arlington are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, with flexibility most common for strategic planning and research-intensive phases. Defense-contractor roles in particular often require on-site presence due to client requirements.
How can I get a director of product design job in Arlington with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Arlington is moving into a senior product designer or design manager role at a federal contractor or government-facing technology company first, then building toward a director title. Arlington employers such as defense IT firms and consulting companies regularly hire strong individual contributors into team-lead roles that serve as a direct pipeline to design leadership. Building a portfolio with enterprise or government product work and pursuing design management responsibilities in your current role accelerates that path locally.
Which industries hire the most director of product designs in Arlington?
