This key opportunity resides in Race Rock’s Engineered Structures Division that is headquartered in Fort Worth, Texas.
Position Summary
The Director of Program Management is responsible for leading the project management function across Race Rock’s Engineered Structures Division, ensuring consistent execution of customer projects from order release through delivery. This role oversees the Project Management team and establishes the processes, systems, KPIs, and communication standards required to support scalable, high-performance execution across the organization.
This position serves as the operational bridge between customer commitments and internal execution, aligning priorities across operations, engineering, sourcing, scheduling, logistics, and leadership teams. The Director of Program Management is responsible for driving visibility, accountability, and proactive communication throughout the project lifecycle while ensuring customer requirements, timelines, and operational capabilities remain aligned.
The Director of Program Management also leads continuous improvement initiatives for the PM (Project Management) function, including development of standard operating procedures, reporting tools, escalation processes, and workflow optimization. This role plays a key leadership position in supporting growth and operational standardization across Race Rock facilities.
Success in this role requires strong leadership, operational understanding, customer focus, process discipline, and the ability to influence cross-functional teams in a fast-paced engineer-to-order manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
1. Program Management Leadership
- Lead development of full formed Project Management Office (PMO). Lead, develop, and support the Project Management (PM) and Coordinator team members across Race Rock sites.
- Establish clear roles, responsibilities, priorities, and performance expectations for the PM organization.
- Develop scalable organizational structure and talent plans to support business growth and future expansion.
2. Customer Project Execution
- Oversee execution of customer projects from order release through shipment and delivery.
- Ensure project timelines, priorities, and customer commitments are aligned with operational capabilities and capacity.
- Lead escalation management for critical customer issues, execution risks, and delivery concerns.
- Maintain strong communication with customers and internal stakeholders throughout project execution.
3. Cross-Functional Operational Alignment
- Partner closely with Sales, Operations, Scheduling, Engineering, Sourcing, and Logistics teams to establish execution priorities and resolve constraints.
- Ensure project priorities and required dates are communicated clearly to manufacturing operations.
- Facilitate alignment between customer demand, production schedules, material availability, and delivery expectations.
4. KPI Management & Reporting
- Establish and manage KPIs for the Project Management function including on-time delivery, project execution performance, escalation tracking, and customer responsiveness.
- Develop dashboards and reporting tools that improve visibility, accountability, and operational decision-making.
- Lead regular project review and status meetings with leadership and operational teams.
5. Process Improvement & Standardization
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives for project execution workflows, communication processes, and system utilization.
- Develop and standardize SOPs, governance processes, escalation paths, and project management best practices across all facilities.
- Support integration of acquisitions and new sites into standardized program management processes and systems.
- Partner with IT and Operations teams to improve ERP workflows, reporting capability, and project visibility tools.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Operations, Engineering, Supply Chain, or related field.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in project management, program management, operations, or customer execution leadership within a manufacturing environment.
- Minimum of 3 years leading teams in a cross-functional operational environment.
- Experience managing customer-facing execution processes in engineer-to-order or industrial manufacturing operations.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing operations, production scheduling, supply chain coordination, and operational workflows.
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams, manage competing priorities, and drive accountability.
- Experience developing KPIs, dashboards, reporting tools, and standardized operational processes.
- Strong communication, leadership, and escalation management skills.
- Ability to operate effectively within a fast-paced, growth-oriented organization.
Highly Qualified Candidates Will Also Possess These Qualifications
- Experience establishing, leading, or transforming a Project Management Office (PMO) within a manufacturing, industrial, or engineer-to-order environment.
- Experience within steel fabrication, infrastructure, utility, or industrial manufacturing environments.
- Experience supporting multi-site operations or post-acquisition integration initiatives.
- Proficiency with ERP systems such as Syspro and reporting platforms such as Power BI.
- PMP certification or equivalent project/program management certification.
- Experience implementing operational process improvements or transformation initiatives.
- Strong financial acumen with understanding of project cost, operational efficiency, and customer impact.
Location & Travel: This role is based in Fort Worth, Texas, with periodic travel to plant locations.
