Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding E-3 Visa Sponsorship as a Verification And Validation Engineer
Frame your degree for U.S. specialty occupation
Australian three-year engineering degrees are generally accepted as equivalent to a U.S. four-year bachelor's degree, but your employer's LCA must tie your specific degree field directly to the V&V role. Get a credential evaluation before interviews.
Target defense and aerospace primes first
V&V engineers are in highest demand at systems integrators and defense contractors working on safety-critical or FAA-regulated programs. These employers file LCAs regularly and have in-house processes for E-3 sponsorship already in place.
Clarify security clearance eligibility early
Many V&V roles in U.S. defense require a U.S. security clearance, which Australian citizens on E-3 status can't hold. Identify this before accepting an offer to avoid investing in sponsorship for a role you can't fully perform.
Use Migrate Mate to handle your filing
Once you have a job offer, use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service to manage the LCA submission with DOL and prepare your visa application package. This keeps your employer's administrative burden low, which matters when they're unfamiliar with E-3 sponsorship.
Confirm the LCA wage level matches your role
DOL assigns prevailing wage levels based on job duties, not just title. V&V engineers with test planning or systems-level responsibilities often qualify at a higher wage level than entry-level roles. Verify this before the LCA is filed.

Find Verification And Validation Engineer JobsVerification And Validation Engineer E-3 Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find Verification and Validation Engineer jobs that offer E-3 sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is the most direct way to search for V&V Engineer roles with confirmed E-3 sponsorship. Most general job boards don't filter by visa type, so you end up applying blind. Migrate Mate surfaces employers with active E-3 and LCA filing history, letting you focus on companies already set up to sponsor Australian engineers.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does a Verification and Validation Engineer role qualify as a specialty occupation for the E-3?
Yes. V&V Engineer roles typically require a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, systems engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related field, which satisfies the E-3 specialty occupation requirement. The key is that your degree field must be directly tied to the job duties described in the LCA, not just adjacent to them.
How does the E-3 compare to the H-1B for V&V Engineer roles?
The E-3 has a 10,500 annual cap that has never been exhausted, so there's no lottery and approvals can happen year-round. The H-1B runs a lottery with roughly a one-in-four selection rate. For Australian V&V engineers, the E-3 is faster, more predictable, and allows your employer to sponsor you any time a role is available.
Can I switch V&V Engineer employers while on an E-3 visa?
Yes, but each employer change requires a new LCA filed with DOL and a new visa application or change of status. There's no portability provision like some other visa categories. You can begin work with the new employer once the new visa is approved, so coordinating your start date with the filing timeline is critical.
