E-3 Visa Systems Engineer Jobs
Systems Engineer roles qualify for E-3 visa sponsorship because they meet the specialty occupation requirement, a bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, or a related field is standard for the position. The E-3 has no lottery and no annual cap, so Australian engineers can apply as soon as they have a job offer and a certified LCA from their employer.

Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding E-3 Visa Sponsorship as a Systems Engineer
Align your credentials to U.S. specialty occupation standards
Your Australian engineering degree qualifies, but framing matters. Position your credentials around the specific systems engineering disciplines in the job description, embedded systems, network architecture, or systems integration, so the LCA and visa application clearly establish specialty occupation.
Target employers with active LCA filing history
Defense contractors, aerospace firms, and large technology integrators file LCAs regularly and have established E-3 sponsorship processes. Prioritize roles at companies whose engineering teams already include international hires, since they understand the LCA certification timeline.
Clarify security clearance requirements before applying
Some federal systems engineering roles require U.S. security clearances that Australian nationals can't hold. Confirm clearance requirements in the job description before investing time in applications, since an ineligible role can't be rescued by any visa category.
Negotiate your start date around LCA certification timing
DOL certifies most LCAs within seven business days, but your employer still needs time to prepare the filing before submitting. Build at least three to four weeks between offer acceptance and your proposed start date to avoid a scramble before your consulate appointment.
Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service to handle your LCA and visa paperwork
Once you have a job offer, Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service manages the LCA submission, visa application preparation, and consulate appointment documents end-to-end, so you can focus on onboarding rather than navigating DOL and USCIS requirements yourself.
Prepare a degree equivalency brief for generalist engineering titles
Job titles like 'Systems Engineer' attract scrutiny because the role spans multiple disciplines. Document how your degree field directly maps to the specific technical duties in the offer letter, reducing the chance of a consular officer questioning the specialty occupation determination.

Find Systems Engineer JobsSystems Engineer E-3 Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find Systems Engineer jobs that offer E-3 visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate lets you search Systems Engineer roles filtered specifically for E-3 visa sponsorship, so you're only seeing employers who have indicated willingness to sponsor Australian nationals. Searching broadly and then vetting each employer for sponsorship willingness is slower and less reliable than starting with a filtered list.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does a Systems Engineer role qualify as a specialty occupation for the E-3?
Yes, in most cases. Systems Engineering requires a theoretical and practical application of highly specialized knowledge, and a bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, or a related field is the standard minimum qualification. Roles that blend general project management with light technical duties may face more scrutiny, so the offer letter should clearly describe the engineering-specific responsibilities.
How does the E-3 compare to the H-1B for Australian Systems Engineers?
The E-3 is available exclusively to Australian citizens and has no lottery, no annual cap, and no registration fee. The H-1B is subject to an annual lottery with roughly a 25% selection rate for the general pool. For a qualified Australian Systems Engineer with a job offer, the E-3 is a direct application process rather than a probabilistic one.
Can I change employers after starting work on an E-3 as a Systems Engineer?
Yes, but each employer change requires a new LCA and a new E-3 visa or amended status. Your existing E-3 is employer-specific, so you can't simply transfer it. The new employer files a fresh LCA with DOL, and if you're outside the U.S. you'll attend a new consulate appointment. There's no portability rule equivalent to the H-1B's AC21 provisions for E-3 holders.
