E-3 Visa Design Verification Jobs
Design Verification engineers qualify for E-3 visa sponsorship because the role meets the specialty occupation standard: a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or a related field is required. The E-3 has no lottery and no annual cap, giving Australian professionals a reliable path to U.S. roles at semiconductor, hardware, and systems companies.

About this opportunity:
ASIC Design Verification Engineer
Austin, Texas
This is not a remote work opportunity
Hybrid work schedule
Your Work Powers the World's 5G Networks
Not a simulation. Not a demo environment. Production silicon running inside live 5G infrastructure across the globe.
At Ericsson, the ASICs our IP teams build are the backbone of next-generation 5G networks — and the verification engineers who prove they work are the last line of defense before silicon hits the real world. If you're the kind of engineer who gets energized by hunting down the hardest bugs, building verification environments from the ground up, and knowing that your work ships — this is your role.
What You'll Be Doing
You'll join Ericsson's ASIC IP organization — a growing, world-class semiconductor team — where you'll take on real ownership across the full verification stack. Expect to dig deep into:
- TLM modeling — building transaction-level models that drive early architectural verification
- Block- and Top-Level ASIC/IP Verification — owning coverage closure from block to chip
- Testbench architecture — designing and building UVM environments from scratch, not inheriting someone else's shortcuts
- SW-driven verification — bridging the gap between hardware and embedded software to verify real-world behavior
This isn't a role where you maintain existing infrastructure. You'll build things, break things, and find the bugs that matter — all in a fast-moving team where your contributions are visible and your growth is a priority.
What You Bring
Several years of hands-on, in industry RTL verification experience in IP, ASIC, SoC.
Deep, practical experience with SystemVerilog and UVM
Proven ability to architect and build testbenches from the ground up
Block- and/or top-level RTL debug experience — you know how to find what's hiding in the waveform
IP familiarity in one or more of: SerDes, PCIe, ARM Subsystems, DSPs/Accelerators, or Ethernet
Scripting proficiency — TCL, Python, Perl, or equivalent
Clear, confident communicator — you can explain what you found and why it matters
Highly Desired Experience:
- Experience developing full test plans and directed/randomized test cases from scratch
- Object-oriented programming chops that show up in your verification code
- Embedded software design and test experience
- Fluency in the standard Linux/GIT/LSF development environment
- Hands-on experience with AMBA APB, AXI, ACE-Lite, or CHI interfaces
- Familiarity with computer architecture — CPU pipelines, memory hierarchies, cache coherency protocols
- Early leadership instincts and the hunger to grow them
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent hands-on experience.

Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding E-3 Visa Sponsorship as a Design Verification
Frame your credentials around specialty occupation
Your degree must align with the specific Design Verification role, not just engineering broadly. A degree in electrical or computer engineering maps cleanly. If yours is adjacent, gather documentation showing your coursework directly supports functional verification, ASIC validation, or RTL testing.
Target companies with active LCA filing history
Search the DOL's Office of Foreign Labor Certification disclosure data for employers who have filed LCAs for Design Verification or related hardware engineering roles. Prior LCA filings signal an employer already understands the E-3 process and won't treat your visa as an obstacle.
Clarify E-3 mechanics before your offer conversation
Many U.S. hardware employers confuse the E-3 with H-1B and assume a lottery is involved. Tell them upfront: the E-3 is Australia-only, cap-exempt, and requires no lottery registration. This reframes sponsorship as an LCA filing and consulate appointment, not a gamble.
Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service for LCA and paperwork
Once you have an offer, use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service to handle your LCA filing, DS-160, and consulate preparation end-to-end. This is especially valuable for Design Verification roles where your employer may have no prior E-3 experience and needs guided support.
Negotiate your start date around LCA certification timelines
The DOL typically certifies an LCA within seven business days, but consulate appointment availability varies by location and season. Build at least four to six weeks between offer acceptance and your intended start date so neither you nor your employer is caught short.
Verify your job description supports specialty occupation status
USCIS scrutinizes whether a role genuinely requires a relevant degree. For Design Verification, your offer letter and job description should specify tasks like RTL simulation, UVM testbench development, or coverage closure, not generic 'engineering support.' Vague descriptions invite requests for additional evidence.

Find Design Verification JobsDesign Verification E-3 Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find Design Verification jobs with E-3 visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is the most direct way to search, as it filters roles by E-3 sponsorship availability so you're not wasting time on employers who don't sponsor. Design Verification roles with sponsorship tend to cluster at semiconductor companies, EDA tool vendors, and large hardware divisions at major tech firms. Targeting companies with existing LCA filing history shortens the conversation considerably.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does a Design Verification role qualify as a specialty occupation for E-3 purposes?
Yes, provided the position requires a bachelor's degree or higher in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or a directly related field. Roles involving RTL verification, functional coverage analysis, or ASIC validation typically qualify without issue. Where problems arise is when a job description is written broadly enough that USCIS could argue any engineering degree, or no degree, would suffice. A tightly scoped description protects you.
How does the E-3 compare to H-1B for Design Verification engineers?
The E-3 is significantly more predictable for Australians. The H-1B is subject to an annual lottery with a roughly 25 percent selection rate, meaning most registrants are simply not selected. The E-3 has no lottery and no annual cap, so if you qualify and your employer files correctly, approval is driven by documentation quality, not chance. Renewal is also indefinite, which matters for multi-year hardware projects.
Can I switch Design Verification employers while on an E-3?
You can change employers, but the E-3 is employer-specific, meaning your current visa is tied to your current employer. The new employer must file a fresh LCA and you'll need a new visa stamp, which typically means returning to Australia for a consulate appointment. You can begin working for the new employer once the new E-3 is approved, not before. Factor the consulate appointment wait time into your transition timeline.
