TITLE: Family Education and Engagement Coordinator
CLASSIFICATION: Classified Hourly Salary Schedule, Grant funded position contingent on continued external funding
REPORTS TO: Director of Student Wellness
SUMMARY:
The Family Education and Engagement Coordinator will provide programs and services to promote and encourage parents to participate in their child's education. The Family Education and Engagement Coordinator will arrange parent meetings, parenting classes, and create opportunities for families to engage in adult learning. The Family Education and Engagement Coordinator will focus on supporting parents to build their student's capacity in preparation for school, reading, and mathematics. A successful candidate will enjoy interacting with people from diverse backgrounds and can build rapport with others quickly.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

Advocate for the importance of parental involvement in education and the value of parent education programs within the schools and broader community.

Recognize and respect the diverse backgrounds, cultures, and perspectives of families within the school's community, and tailor parent education efforts to meet the unique needs of different families.

Develop and conduct workshops and seminars for parents on topics such as child development, effective parenting strategies, academic support at home for ELA and Math, navigating the school system, and fostering positive parent-child relationships.

Ensure compliance with grant requirements by documenting activities, tracking participant involvement, and submitting reports as needed to fulfill grant obligations.

Collect data and feedback from parents to assess the effectiveness of parent education initiatives and identify areas for improvement. Use evaluation findings to refine program offerings and measure outcomes.

Serve as a liaison between parents and school staff, facilitating effective communication and collaboration. This could include conveying important school information to parents, answering phones, helping welcome parents in person and on phone, at times within school office addressing parent concerns or feedback, and promoting a sense of partnership between home and school.

Collaborate with teachers, administrators, counselors, and other school personnel to align parent education initiatives with school's goals and priorities, and to ensure a coordinated approach to supporting students and families.

Stay informed about best practices in parent education, child development, and family support through ongoing professional development opportunities, workshops, and conferences.

Collaborate with site attendance clerks to communicate and create partnerships with families to increase student attendance and identify possible root causes for student absence.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma or equivalency.
- 60 credit hours college credit preferred.
- College or approved coursework or training in providing parenting classes.
- Combination of work experience in a classroom setting and/or approved coursework in parenting classes.
LICENSES OR CERTIFICATIONS:
- Valid Arizona driver's license and good driving record.
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to work with parents.
- Ability to communicate with community members, leaders, and businesspeople to inform them about Title I and District programs.
- Bilingual, English, and Spanish preferred.
- Skill in using a personal computer including Microsoft Word and applications. Ability to develop parenting classes, in-services, and workshops.
- Ability to teach, train, and evaluate the effectiveness of parenting classes.
- Innovation & technology savvy to facilitate organizational and communication effectiveness.
- Project management to maintain and provide daily, weekly, and monthly progress reporting to various stakeholders.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
The work environment is a normal school setting; the noise level ranges from quiet to loud but is usually moderate.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
9-months non-contracted, Classified Hourly Salary Schedule, assignment is at two sites (Greenfield & Kennedy School)
EVALUATION:
Performance to be evaluated in accordance with Board policy on evaluation of classified staff.
