Genesis Learning Centers is a private, nonprofit organization serving children and adolescents with significant emotional, behavioral, developmental, and learning challenges. Since 1984, we have proudly supported students and families across Middle Tennessee through therapeutic, student-centered educational programs.
We are currently seeking a certified Special Education Teacher to join our team at Genesis Academy (Nashville).
About the Role
Our Special Education Teachers play a vital role in creating safe, structured, and supportive classroom environments where students can grow academically, socially, and emotionally. This position is ideal for an educator who is compassionate, patient, and committed to helping students with complex needs succeed.
You will work in a small, therapeutic classroom setting alongside an Associate Teacher Counselor and other support staff to provide individualized instruction and behavioral support.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
- Plan and deliver differentiated instruction aligned with state standards
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members and families
- Utilize positive behavior intervention and support strategies
- Maintain accurate documentation and progress reporting
- Foster a structured, respectful, and therapeutic learning environment
Qualifications
- Valid Tennessee teaching certification (Special Education endorsement required)
- Experience working with students with emotional/behavioral or developmental challenges preferred
- Strong classroom management and collaboration skills
- Commitment to providing high-quality, equitable education
- Ability to pass a fingerprint/background check and drug screen
