Electrical Design Technician Jobs in Tempe: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get an electrical design technician job in Tempe?
The strongest entry point in Tempe is targeting the semiconductor, aerospace, and advanced manufacturing employers concentrated along the Rio Salado Corridor and near ASU Research Park. Candidates who bring AutoCAD or SolidWorks proficiency alongside hands-on PCB or schematic drafting experience move to the top of shortlists quickly. Familiarity with local defense and chip-fab workflows gives applicants a concrete edge over generalists in this market.
Which companies hire electrical design technicians in Tempe?
Tempe electrical design technician roles are posted by Jacobs, Sundt, and Rosendin Electric and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. The local employer mix skews heavily toward semiconductor firms, aerospace contractors, and engineering consultancies that serve the greater Phoenix metro's high-tech manufacturing base.
Are there remote electrical design technician jobs in Tempe?
Yes, but only partially. Electrical design technician work is largely hands-on and lab-dependent, so fully remote roles are uncommon. About 30% of electrical design technician openings tied to Tempe are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, and those positions tend to cover the CAD drafting, documentation, and design-review portions of the role rather than physical prototyping or equipment testing.
How can I get an electrical design technician job in Tempe with little or no experience?
The most realistic path in Tempe is starting as a lab technician or engineering aide at one of the semiconductor or defense contractors near the ASU Research Park, where entry-level technical support roles are a common feeder into design work. An associate degree from Rio Salado College or Maricopa Skill Center training in CAD or electronics strengthens an application considerably. Employers here routinely promote internally once foundational hands-on skills are demonstrated.
Which industries hire the most electrical design technicians in Tempe?
The sectors hiring the most electrical design technicians in Tempe are Construction & Real Estate, Consulting & Professional Services, and Energy, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Tempe's position as a hub for semiconductor manufacturing and aerospace supply-chain activity drives concentrated, recurring demand for electrical design talent that distinguishes it from other Arizona markets.
