Electrical Engineer Jobs in Cleveland: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get an electrical engineer job in Cleveland?
Focus on Cleveland's strongest hiring sectors: energy and utilities along the lakefront, heavy manufacturing in the Flats and near the industrial west side, and healthcare systems in University Circle. Candidates who combine hands-on systems or controls experience with familiarity in power distribution or industrial automation stand out locally. Targeting mid-size manufacturers and engineering consultancies with Ohio roots tends to yield faster responses than pursuing national firms exclusively.
Which companies hire electrical engineers in Cleveland?
Cleveland electrical engineer roles are posted by ISG, Sierra Lobo, and Cleveland-Cliffs and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. The local market includes a mix of legacy industrial manufacturers, regional utilities, and large healthcare networks, all of which maintain in-house engineering teams.
Are there remote electrical engineer jobs in Cleveland?
Yes, though remote work is limited for electrical engineers because most roles involve on-site equipment, facilities, or manufacturing operations. About 50% of electrical engineer openings tied to Cleveland are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, skewing toward design, simulation, and project coordination work rather than hands-on installation or testing roles.
How can I get an electrical engineer job in Cleveland with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Cleveland is through co-op or internship programs at regional manufacturers and utilities, many of which convert strong performers to full-time roles. Entry-level positions in electrical drafting, field technician support, or controls assistant roles at Cleveland-area industrial companies are common stepping stones. Familiarity with AutoCAD Electrical or PLC basics gives candidates a concrete edge when competing for those openings.
Which industries hire the most electrical engineers in Cleveland?
Cleveland electrical engineer roles concentrate in Manufacturing, Automotive, and Consulting & Professional Services, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Cleveland's identity as a manufacturing and energy hub, combined with its large healthcare systems and growing infrastructure investment, keeps consistent demand across those sectors.
